“We loved the house’s location and were very pleased to see the updated furniture in the house. The only issues we had were the mosquitoes in the house. Half the family came home covered in bug bites from the mosquitoes and we were constantly fighting them off. Would definitely book with your company again but not sure on this particular house as the mosquitoes were terrible inside.”

Hello, I am the owner of Joie De Vivre. I was reviewing the comment about the mosquitos in the villa. While we do understand and value the guests’ comments as it helps us address villa needs and concerns, we would like to add a couple clarifications involving this concern for potential future guests. The kitchen and family room have been completely updated and enclosed with doors and windows since being newly purchased in 2023 and we did find that some mosquitos were still coming in via an unsealed cistern lid. That issue has been resolved in late 2024 and we find that there are little to no mosquitos inside the villa or rooms (they tend to enjoy my daughter more than the rest of us and she no longer has issues with them). We also find that when outdoors or indoors, by turning the ceiling fans on in any of the gazebos or rooms, the air being disturbed eliminates or at the least minimizes any flying creatures. The villa is regularly sprayed for mosquitos and should a guest find them unreasonable, we are happy to have another update on the exterior spraying/maintenance during their stay. Mosquitos are typically only in dark damp places and are not out during the day. With the above measures in place, a little mosquito/bug spray for those who are more susceptible to them will offer all the comfort necessary to enjoy our favorite place in the world with one of the most magnificent views to be found anywhere.
