“We stayed in the La Siesta villa in Terres Basses, Saint Martin (French side). The villa and views were beautiful and it was nicely located close to Rouge Baie (walking distance), Marigot, and the Dutch side. We felt safe with a gated entrance to the community (closed at night) and the gated villa driveway/property. The size of the pool was perfect, lots of comfortable outdoor furniture, and working grill. The negatives included a powder room door eaten by termites that barely opened and closed (and luckily stayed on the frame), an overrun of ants in the kitchen and our bedroom, we were told "it's summer", however we personally treated them with vinegar and Terro liquid bait to eliminate some of them. And along with ants comes lots of ant bites and ants in our BED, bags, food, bathroom items, etc. We lost hot water for a couple days upstairs but the concierge had it fixed after notifying them of the issue. Finally the pool deck is hazardous when wet, which is impossible to avoid since we used the pool regularly. The tile was extremely slippery and not safe to walk or stand on when wet. Most of our guests slipped multiple times, and I personally fell hard and twisted and hurt my knee very badly, to the point of barely being able to walk and limiting my activity the majority of my vacation. My injury is going to require a trip to the Orthopedist and likely an MRI. Do not go barefoot when pool deck is wet, which is counter-intuitive since you don't wear shoes in pools — a warning from the rental company would have been nice. Note: the same tile is in the bedrooms/bathrooms resulting in the same slippery-when-wet surfaces, especially when barefoot (like taking a shower). The lack of shower doors made it extra treacherous, as we ended up with water all over our entire bathroom floor. Requiring us to put towels down on the floor and IN the shower, while showering, so we didn't slip and fall.”

Easy to get everywhere from it (car needed if you want to see the island). Very quiet area perfect to relax and admire the view. If you are an early bird you’ll see some of the most beautiful sunrise there.”
