Great treadmill at a good price compared to other brands. You can connect the treadmill (via bluetooth) to the iFit App on your tablet/ phone. So far, so good.

I bought this because I wanted to have a treadmill in my house for incline walking. Before this I exercised by walking outside often walking and to and frome a location and average around 15 thousand steps a day. I wanted to make my walking more efficient - by walking at an incline and potentially faster , I also wanted to remove some of the logistical problems of walking large distances to and from places. I chose this treadmill because it was "recommended" on a comparison site as a budget treadmill (I am planning on moving within a year and while walking is certainly a habit and I have used a treadmill a lot before this is a new habit) which support a number of incline settings. The recommendation site didn't show that many treadmills with inclines in the budget range. Before making this choice I was interested in the reebok floatrider fixed non-folding treadmill because it was recommended in the "home gym treadmill review" as a good budget gym, however it was more expensive than the price advertised on the site, and a cheaper variant (in line with the price quoted on the video) ended up being fraudulant. I was interested in tracking my treadmill use programmatically, both incline and speed - preferably in a spreasheet. However, my research lead me to believe that support for data export was hit and miss with bluetooth treadmills - so I decided to use a NPE RUNN (recommended for use with zwift - but likely fairly open). I had no interest in interactive apps - only tracking, another factor was that the treadmill was slightly wider than others. I'm reasonably happy with the treadmill. My main gripes are: * The closed ifit bluetooth protocol - meaning for moral and policy reasons I would discourage buying this treadmill if a suitable alternative existed at the same price point. * I would like a pause button Use The treadmill walking is "big enough" (and this is important for me). I had a few instances of being slightly too far back or to the side and treading on a roller when doing things that you probably aren't meant to do on a treadmill (e.g. closing my eyes while using resistance bad / turning around to walk backwards). Operation is okay. A feature / bug is that incline is maintained between runs. Given by plan I am just leaving the treadmill on a 10% incline. I would have really liked 15% incline or even higher - basically high enbough that I can get thoroughly out of breath on a "trudging" speed - but this is for some specific use cases. I could not find cheap options offering this. 10% is enough - but not as fun as it could be. I really liked the big head unit - pretty much like the one's at gyms. For my slightly odd use case (not getting bored while using a treadmill / having fun) this was useful. I have a laptop on the front, a phone in one gutter, a mini bass amp attached to the board, plectrums in another gutter. An incidental feature is the gap between the handles and the body will "grip" a guitar. I had though the speaker feature wa sa little silly but together with the bass guitar and a miniamp this is actually quite fun. I was experimenting with attaching args and lightfittings (for backlights :D ) to the metal bar of the back plate. Tracking The treadmill has bluetooth support, however unfortunately the ifit protocol is closed and the ifit app while having a basic free mode does not allow export without paying 150 pounds a year. For moral reasons, if provided with any alternative to ifit I would use until such time as people are given easy access to data. With that said I found that the open source app QZ has helpfully reverse engineered the protocol. I have this set up to track my usage and send this to strava and export this to google sheets - which works pretty well and QZ is open source and will (I believe) run on linux and so raspberry pi's and similar single board computers. A gripe I have with this is that I need to remember to press a button when I start use. The ifit app can remote control the treadmill... with is very cool. QZ lacks this feature so this is a pain. I would participate in a kick starter for a moderate amount to get his feature added to QZ. Assembly Putting it together was a bit of a pain - I managed it on my own but the manual recommended two people and there were a few complicated operations (e.g. holding a leg in place while tightening screws - holding the deck up while tightening screws. It took me the best part of two days on and off (particualrly including obtaining a screwdriver and adjustable wrench needed for the manufacture). The screws behind the legs are particularly irritating to get at. Convenience in a home The treadmill is quite large, particularly when you include the head (though note my discussion of usage). The folding option doesn't really save you much space, and given the weight of the unit I'm not sure the "moving feature" is that useful. I would advise using cardboard below the wheels while moving - it is probably slightly easier than moving a flat treadmill however. My main gripe is that the unit is (probably too large to move through doors) (though the belt itslef is not). I was planning to but it in a different room, but because the manual said "build before moving" and for comfortable manufacture I built it in a different room. I may well get around to talking it apart (possible just removing one leg) to move between rooms.

This is our first treadmill and we're both very impressed. It costs much less than almost all the other models we looked at, but at the same time had a better spec on paper. We bought it so we could both do the couch to 5k programme and having now used it for the last 4 weeks we're really impressed with its performance. Highly recommended.
