I purchased this last fall for our cabin and finally have it installed. I did the install myself. Hardest part was cutting through the 8" thick log cabin wall for the exhaust. The directions are straight forward. One must understand the exhaust venting requirements. The vent has to be positioned away from over hangs, windows, doors, other HVAC equipment intakes/exhaust, etc. Once installed, the start-up was a piece of cake. Any temperature adjustments needed are straight forward and easy to do. I ran 3/4" copper supply and return from the unit. The discharge goes to a distribution header. From the header I used 1/2" PEX tubing to the use points. Response time (time to get hot water at the faucet) was what was expected. Maybe 10 to 15 seconds depending on length of supply line. Not a lot of difference difference when compared to our old 50 gallon electric hot water tank. Shower water temp and flow are as expected and provide plenty of hot water. The unit does cycle on/off anytime a person turns on hot water and turns off hot water. So we have adjusted how we use hot water. Rinsing washed dishes is now done in large groups rather than rinsing one item at a time, then washing another, etc. As this is a cabin, we do not have an automatic dishwasher. We do have a clothes washer/dryer combo. It performs fine with this unit. It does cycle on and off as needed, following the water use. The propane powered unit decreased our electrical needs and freed up a 220 volt 30 amp breaker. Overall I am very satisfied with the unit and will install another given the chance. The only other thing that I would consider is installing a "fast loop" for use points that are far away form the unit. But here again, this adds cost and additional control logic that may or may not perform much better than not having a recycle loop/fast loop.

Great unit for providing quick hot water. We installed it in our tiny house and its a workhorse. The only negative I have had is that the control valve burst during a recent freeze. Even though the unit has "freeze protection" that only protects the heating element itself and does not cover the valving inside the unit. Be sure to account for this in your placement of the unit.

Great upgrade to my original water heater. This will get insanely hot and keep on going with out no worries of losing hot water.
