So far, so good. Winter will be the test, when the unit will be sending hot water to the HVAC air handler that heats the small apartment in which it is installed.

Hi Charles, thank you for your business and your review. You are welcome of course to use the unit you bought in anyway you want. However, we need to let people reading this know the unit you bought the RTGH-84DLN-2 is a standards tankless water heater for domestic hot water only. It is not a boiler, and it is not a combi tankless water heater boiler. It is not made to provide hydronic radiant heat. Doing so voids the warranty. It is for showers, baths, sinks and so on only. There are combination tankless water heater boilers that provide both domestic hot water and radiant heat. These units from Rheem start RCBH and can be found in the Combi Water Heater Boilers section of our website.

In use for over a year with no problems. Only basic maintenance needed. We saw a slight decrease in the gas bill, but we use it hard. Unlimited hot showers!!!

It was a little tricky to install and our contractor had to buy venting parts extra after consulting with Rheem. But it has been working great for 2 months and no issues with hot water. It takes about 30-40 seconds to get your hot water and the best part is setting the temperature to 112* and just turn the hot all the way to max. No struggling to find the right temperature. We also saved in space by 10 inches in our utility closet.

I didn't research Tankless vs Tank enough. Mistakenly I went with the headlines that declared water and energy savings. It takes much longer for me to see hot water in the shower than it did previously. I will also spend much more time with the annual de-scaling process required to maintain the tankless. Horribly disappointed.

I am sorry to hear that, however, it is not possible for it to take more time to get hot water with tankless than a tank. The water coming out of the tankless is instantly hot. When you are waiting for hot water this has nothing to do with the water heater and everything to do with the water in the pipes that has sat and cooled from the previous use. If you are 20 ft away from the water heater and have 2 gallons of water that has sat and cooled in the pipes you have to of course wait for the hot water coming from the water heater to travel that distance and the cooled water that is between you and the water to flow through. If you have a standard 2 gallon per minute shower head then it would of course take one minute before you have hot water. If you want instant hot water at the tap or shower you will need a recirculation pump. I will include a link below to that section of the site, but they recirculate the water so that you do not have cold water left in your pipes from the previous use. In regards to descaling the unit it is true that tankless water heaters heat the water you are using as you are using it with a heating element that is in direct contact with the water, so over time calcium and other dissolved solids builds up and creates what is called scale that needs to be flushed out. Typically this is done every year to 18 months. However, this is a very simple process that takes just a few minutes. The Rheem units controllers will let you know when scale is starting to build up and needs to be flushed out. I included a link to a video below as well as to a flush kit. That all said tankless water heaters save a ton of energy, provide endless hot water, and are much more compact and mount on the wall opening up a good bit of extra space. https://www.tanklesswaterheaterdepot.com/tankless-water-heater-recirculation-pump-kits-and-accessories https://www.tanklesswaterheaterdepot.com/tankless-water-heater-descaling-kit https://youtu.be/St38CFhiaI0
