“Would stay again for sure. Camp equipment was nice and we had cool temps during the day because it's fully shaded. It was nice to sleep in a tent and not on the ground or an air mattress, which was a first for tent camping for us. Lisa was very helpful and communicated everything we needed to know beforehand. We had low expectations for the port-a-john, and were shocked to find it was super clean.
None of the rest of this review is to meant to be a critique, just useful for someone reading this.
All of the sites are secluded/quiet/distance enough that even with them all full you'll probably be just fine... unless an annoying group has a bigger bluetooth speaker. I don't think you'd hear a small one.
If I were staying at this site again I would probably stay at D (just up from F a little bit) because D is farthest away from others and potentially the quietest/most peaceful. The walk from the parking spot is generally short for all of them, and if my main concern was being close to the parking lot than I would stay at F again rather than D.
We arrived after dark (our fault) on our first night and it was a little harder than I thought to figure out where were supposed to park as it's not marked anywhere. If you arrive after dark, and you're wondering if you're supposed to park where you see the bright yellow cart, then you've assumed correctly). It was also a bit difficult to find where F was in the dark even with the map, but again it was our fault for arriving so late. I would try harder to get there earlier next time.
I haven't seen any reviews that mentioned the road noise, and I'm not sure why I wasn't expecting much (if any), but you can definitely hear everything passing from Highway 59 which takes you out of the wilderness aspect a bit. Makes sense when I thought about it later, as this spot is very close/convenient from the highway after-all.
The day-use area is great! We played some badminton over the net and then also horseshoes for a couple hours and just ran around the quiet park doing park stuff. There is a trail or two off to the back side of the day area that are cool to check out. One of them goes almost right down to site D and also forks toward the nearby pond/lake.”
“Lisa is a true rockstar!! She deserves a medal! She had it all ready for us, sanitized the porta potty and everything. the porta potty was an addition to the site area and I was pretty happy about it. She truly cares about the guests, anticipates our needs, and wants to ensure it’s a great time. Thank you for a great stay!!”
