We had a great time at Hucklebuck Railway! The hosts were very gracious and helpful. The site was a very steep walk down hill to the site from the car, and an even steeper walk down to the river on a muddy trail - things were dicey due to the rain we had the first night. The site overlooks the River which couldn’t have been more picturesque. Lots of walking paths around the property which we enjoyed a little bit of. I can’t emphasize enough how important bug spray is. The skeeters were gnarly.

We took a bit of a stab in the dark with Tentrr (we’ve always gone camping with our own gear) and what a pleasant surprise this trip was! The location was just beautiful and our hosts very helpful. Everything we needed was there for us at the site & it really made our weekend so much more enjoyable. There was even a long lead set up for our dog, who really loved trying to chase the chipmunks. The site is right on the river & the river is great for swimming & tubing (as long as the water level is high enough!). It’s also fairly close to the town of Red Hook & only about 40 mins from Woodstock, so we were able to enjoy an afternoon in town on our last day there. We were there during a torrential storm and the Tentrr tent did leak a little, but overall minimal and probably because the rain was so heavy - I think had it been a remotely lighter storm, it wouldn’t have leaked at all. The other tent and the kitchen were under tarps and survived the rain pretty well. Overall, this was a really fun trip & I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to spend a weekend outdoors.

We loved this site; what a great location on a wooded slope above the river. (be aware if you have limited mobility, the parking is above the site, you must carry your gear down a steep path to the camp and then back up on departure. This did not bother us.) The owner's property is full of birdlife, with mown nature trails and fishing spots down along the river below. We loved the fully tarp-covered kitchen area and well placed fire-pit. Friendly hosts have provided all the gear you need, but do bring your own camp stove. Everything was spotless, sheets and pillows were new. Great supply of seasoned firewood and plenty of kindling on ground. Looking down on the river while washing dishes at the sink made even that chore a pleasure! Already booked next our stay!
