“We love Clarkco State Park and had a blast swimming, playing disc golf, geocaching, and eating at A&M Chicken in nearby Quitman.
The Tentrr site is to come equipped with several amenities and most were there. We were lacking water in the jug that they promise to fill up. I reached out to the Tentrr host to ask about this and he did come to fill the jug for us. We were also without trash bags, which are to be provided at the site. He said he would bring those, but never did.
We were running into town to get groceries and I could have easily grabbed some trash bags, but he had assured me he would bring them. After we got back and found no trash bags, I contacted him. He said he forgot and "we could just throw the trash in the can without any bags". This was an issue. Anyone who has been camping knows that animals are just lurking in the woods waiting for an opportunity like this. The issue was made worse because there was also no lid for the trash can. After reaching out to the host about this, he simply said, "It's supposed to be there."
All in all, I didn't find out Tentrr contact person very helpful. He did not supply the trash bags for us and then didn't go to any real lengths to help fix the issue. Sure enough, come nightfall, I was woken up by some animal digging through our trash can mere inches from our tent. I had my children with me (12,10, and 6) and fortunately, they did not wake up. They would have been terrified and unable to sleep the rest of the night. I'm sure that it was only due to me having my phone on full blast with white noise to drown out any outside noise that they remained asleep.
I'd recommend the state park, but not sure about using this Tentrr locale again.”
“Ours was an excellent stay in Clarcko! I grew up near this state park and have fond memories of spending time there. The disc golf and hiking were excellent and the park is very clean and spacious. This site was not far from where we had to park and you can even pull your vehicle down to the site to unload and then drive back out to your parking space. Some of the Tentrr spaces are a further distance from where you may park and you would have to carry in your supplies for a longer hike.
The site itself was secluded and very private. It rained on us during the night and we stayed very dry throughout due to the raised platform tent. The bed was very comfortable and there is plenty of room inside the tent as well. The pop up tent is large and could easily sleep three other campers if you needed the space.
The ONLY issue, and it is quite small, that we had is that the site is brand new and many of the wood furnishings (picnic table, chairs, porch, etc.) had not been sanded very well. While sitting at the table, it would have been pretty easy to get splinters, making for an uncomfortable experience in an otherwise pleasant stay.
We will definitely be going back and highly recommend this site for others!”
