Tentrr is your private camping experience. We connect adventurers like you with private landowners who want to share their land so you can experience new places.
“First thing: This campground is a 7 minute off-road drive up a steep incline with deep dips, tight corners, and variable terrain from grass to gravel to dirt. Depending on your vehicle, that’s either hugely fun or a nightmare. We made the drive in and out in a front-wheel drive crossover SUV, but it took some work to get out of a ditch, and we would have been stuck for sure if there had been mud.
This site is so worth it, though!
We went to get completely away from things, and the site is perfect for that. You can still get to stores and parks, though, so it’s the best of both worlds.
Camp is at the tree line at the top of a steep prairie. It’s open to the sky but isolated, and you can see for miles. It can get hot during the day, but there is a wooded clearing behind the tent that stays cool.
This was my first TENTRR stay, but I think the site is the standard high quality: raised platform, large canvas tent, stone fire ring, Adirondack chairs, picnic tables. The tent interior has some pragmatic decoration in the corners—antique rocking chair, table with basin and shaving mirror—but nothing that cramps the room.
Jim was really accommodating. We got in after dark, an hour later than expected. We felt awful, but he was good humored about it even though the drive to the tent is no picnic at night. The solar shower had broken and he made sure we had someplace to clean up. He provided wood and about 20 gallons of water.”
“We had a great stay at Serenity Hill Farm. My husband and I plus 3 friends and 3 dogs spent three nights exploring the farm, which was vast, cooking everything over the fire and simply being outside enjoying the incredible country views. The tent itself was very well-appointed and clean. It was set into a tree line so it stayed cool all day. The wooded area behind the tent was very cool and quiet. Great place to tie up a hammock and take a nap. When we arrived we met Jim and he lead us to the site, took us around the land and we were even able to get some fresh ground beef for burgers one night. All in all, a tough place to leave.”
“I had absolutely the most amazing time at Serenity Hill Farm! James really went above and beyond all my expectations in decorating the tent. The tent suffered serious damage due to some local kids in the area but James was able to turn it around within a couple of days! The little decorative details (antique rocking chair, fishing poles with the cutest carved wooden fish, string of carved wooden hearts over the head of the bed, the carved wooden moose head) made this just the most magical experience ever. I was most thankful for the water pitcher and basin with an accompanying antique mirror inside the tent. This meant I didn't have to go behind the tent, where the water, cooler, kitchen supplies were stored, in the early somewhat chilly mornings/evenings to wash up. The layout of the camp was also very thoughtful. The tent and small deck area received full sun thru out the day, making morning yoga sessions a real treat and sunbathing possible. There were 2 picnic benches. The one behind the tent was in a shaded area and served as a prep kitchen with a huge cooler (which James was nice enough to allow me to borrow), water (2 large igloo water coolers and another water supply to wash dishes, etc) and all necessary kitchen utensils, multiple pots and pans, main trash can were kept. The other picnic bench was in front of the tent close to the fire pit and grill, creating the perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee and all meals; it even had large shade umbrella for those hot afternoons. The camp site was also in a very private area of the farm with well demarcated trails to the rest of the surrounding property which was expansive and tranquil. He also supplied 2 super bright lanterns inside the tent and 2 other light sources outside the tent. He checked up on me each day to see if I needed any thing. I don't think I even explored half of the property and was sad I didn't get to find the hidden pond but that's ok since I definitely will revisit. I already miss the fireflies that start to flicker in the field in front of the tent at dusk into the early evenings Oh and the farm fresh eggs and ground beef were so delicious: definitely add those extra options. This was like glamping in a 5 star hotel! I would definitely recommend Serenity Hill Farm to everyone since James caters to the experience you are looking for: very rustic to luxurious glamping.
The surrounding towns were absolutely adorable (Afton and Bainbridge) and a must visit if you like antiquing. Make sure you stop by Frog Pond Farms for their amazing produce!
Thank you James for this wonderful and unforgettable experience!”
