“I came here with my family last year and had so much fun that we decided to come back again this year.
This time we stayed for longer and yet we were extremely disappointed in the service. I was provided wrong number of the host two times!
There is no service in the area so to get check in help (because I was again given wrong combination for lock) we had to drive down to visitor center and call customer service.
We had to clean the site ourselves and our portable toilet seat was so gross there was liquid mold inside.
We saw the host on the last day of our stay unlike the last time. And, when we requested waste bags we only got 1 bag when there was 4 of us.
Other than horrible check in experience, driving to visitor center to use the restrooms between 8- 6pm, cleaning the site because we did early check in and difficult to get in touch with host situation: the area is beautiful and the site has so much to offer!!!”
“Gorgeous campsite! Secluded, with a lake view. Tent was comfortable and airy.
We had a few communication issues. First, we were given outdated contact info for the campkeeper. There was also some initial confusion about our assigned tent, and we were locked out for a bit. Once Tentrr understood the situation and got us in touch with the new campkeeper, all was well.
The new campkeeper, Omaur, was super nice and helpful. We had a couple of FaceTime calls so he could answer questions, and he had a wealth of information about the area.
It was super helpful to have an extra bear canister! We brought our own, but ended up using both so we could store food, toiletries, and garbage safely. Kids also loved the fire pit!
The water spigot is located about a mile away, at the cabin campsite. We hiked into the campsite, and would definitely recommend filling up the 5 gallon jug earlier rather than later, especially if you are walking rather than driving. There is also a porta potty and a bear-proof dumpster in the parking area by the public boat launch (close to the Tentrr campsite), which is very handy.
We were there at the end of April, on a sunny and windy weekend, which meant cold nights, warm afternoons, and very few bugs! In the early morning and in the evening, we were happy to have a wool base layer, fleece, coat, hats, and gloves. In the afternoons, we were comfortable in long sleeves and long pants.
If you have a clear night, the stars are very bright here. Just gorgeous.
For folks without a car - we took the Port Jervis line (NJ transit) to Tuxedo. We hiked in via the Ramapo-Dunderberg and Tuxedo-Mountain-Ivy trails, then walked along Seven Lakes Road to the public boat launch, which is where you access the Tentrr campsite. Going home, we reversed the hike back to Tuxedo. We ended up getting an Uber to the Suffern train station, which has more frequent train service back to NYC & Hoboken (a good option if you miss the train in the Tuxedo and there’s a long wait for the next train!).”
“The land is beautiful and our camp was convenietly equipped. However, the site is not private at all. During the day on Saturday there were 20- 30 tourists and hikers picnicking and playing music in front of the site! They walked right up and tried looking into our tent! We left for an hour and came back to find people using our fire pit and picnic table! It was very disappointing because the site is lovely otherwise.”
