“We just finished spending an amazing memorial weekend at "The Back 40" with family, and couldn't have asked for a better, more relaxing experience with pristine swimming pond and nearby creek. Very clean property which makes you feel like you are the first guests to visit. The property looked great in pictures, but being there was even better than expected! Huge property with all of the privacy you could ask for, but with all the amenities you didn't expect from a camping experience such as a separate and private nearby wood structure with a flush toilet, running water, small refrigerator and outdoor hot shower. Andrew was very accommodating overall, checked in on us to ensure we had everything we needed and delivered plenty of Firewood. We will definitely be back again. Thank you Andrew!”
“This place is exceptional! If a cabin and a tent had a love child it would be The Back 40. We loved it so much that we extended by an extra night. I’ve only been camping for a few years now and I think this place perfectly addresses all the concerns I originally had. First, having an operating toilet, sink for dishes/brushing teeth and a hot water shower make this place one of a kind. Secondly, I was always concerned about keeping food cool and safe from animals. The Back 40 has a refrigerator which makes life so easy! Third, I was concerned about being too isolated and therefore unsafe. This place is near to town while feeling like your own private oasis. We’ve had a few experiences where it was challenging to get to the site especially in low-to-the-ground NYC rental cars. This place has a drive way right up to the tent. Amazing!! That said, you feel that you are away from it all. The pond, the meadows, the stream make you feel like you’ve taken a step back in time. For those that want a full nature immersion you will love it. It’s a bird watchers paradise. We saw wild turkey, hawks, a huge red headed woodpecker, hummingbird and lots of others. We set for hours just watching the frogs swimming in the pond. Andrew and family are the type folks you feel you’ve known for a long time. They stopped by on our first day to check in and make sure we had everything and made us feel comfortable to contact them anytime if we needed anything. Then they gave us plenty of privacy as well; perfect combo!! This was a much needed trip to get away from the city and it did not disappoint. I highly recommend this spot for newbies and veteran campers alike. It’s the perfect combo of conveniences and unplugged nature!”
“The back 40 everything and more. It reminded me of old school camping even better! It was totally private in amazing woods! It had amazing amenities, hot shower after a jump in the super clean pond was refreshing! A clean bathroom was a plus. Andrew the campkeeper was nice and very helpful. It even had a outlet to plug phones in. I’m definitely heading back next summer!”
“Best site I've been to so far. The property is gorgeous, and the host have gone the extra mile with updating the property amenities. Wood is provided free, which no other camp site has offered so far, saving us about $100. Just leave the young men a tip for bringing the wood right to the site for you.”

“I decided to take a little weekend camping trip with my 3 nephews to get some R&R. Little did I know that I would be transported to a magical getaway experience. The Back 40 is camping 2.0. I was transported to the 1800's with the stream flowing beside the tent into the pond and the pond leaking into the rushing river, then back to modern times with a hot water shower and indoor bathroom. The Back 40 superseded my expectations and is the primary example of what the creators of tentrr envisioned when they started this company.”
“My second Tentrr trip, first to this location. The first thing I said when we arrived was - I already know I will be coming back here. The location is just perfect, with a lovely pond view, and it's easy to find. Plus, the owner has gone way above and beyond what is required to maintain a site - very nice person and welcoming. The bunk bed-style airbeds were great since I didn't have t bring an extra mattress for my stepson. And having a working bathroom and shower on site? That makes this site very special. If you haven;t done Tentrr before, or even if you have and you're coming back for more, consider this site first. We will be back ASAP.”
