“Then tent, loo and site were easy to access and comfortable. We felt secluded but. Knew we were close to the town if needed. The site included a description about the river but we could not reach the river by any trails. I was made aware after the fact that the site is new and my family was the first to use it.
Because of a misunderstanding on my end, my family and I arrived ill-equipped to carry wood, water, a cooler, etc to our site. The camp host lent us a wagon which made all the difference for two parents with a four year old.”
“Not a great experience. I gave it 1 star because at least the park was beautiful. Had a mouse nest in the tent when we arrived, along with mommy mouse and several babies. We had to evict them. Had a wasp nest hanging from the ceiling, with a good dozen wasps on it. That was a problem, too. Fairly ridiculous amount of spider webs/cobwebs all over. Each of these can be expected in nature, but not if someone in charge of this program spends 10 minutes cleaning up the tent before you arrive. Also, it was a solid 15 minute hike to the tent. Don't remember seeing that in the description anywhere, but it would have made a big impact on my decision. You should make that painfully obvious. Site location of the tent was in a swamp. I paid to have a tent already set up. I expected it would be set up in a somewhat intelligent location. Not so here. If anyone would have wanted to use the extra tent provided, they would have been soaked. As it was, the time around the pathetically small space for a campfire was severly muddy. Propane tank was empty. Maybe it's supposed to be, but if you're going to have one there, it should be full, or instructions left for where and how to get it filled. No water was provided, even though it was communicated that a 5 gallon jug of water would be provided. What made matters worse was the communication, and lack thereof. I communicated at least a handful of times via email, text, the website before we ever came and never did I get a response. The only response I got was from 'Nick' who answered the mystery number the state park gave me when I told them what I was there for. He had no idea we were even camping there that night, but told us where to find the tent, which was at least helpful. When I told him about the propane tank, he said he'd come out next day and fill it - then proceeded to not come out and never to communicate again. Interesting idea of customer service. So, overall, it was a train wreck. I would not do it again and won't recommend it to anyone I know. I will recommend people visit this state park - it's beautiful. Just make other sleeping arrangements!”
“It is a mile or less hike into the woods. They are not marked on the trail. It was a beautiful location and loved the privacy there! You can bike on trail the sites off of! No service really! Definitely recommend !”
