“This was my first time at this park and first time using Tentrr. We loved the camp sight, and it was nice to have the queen mattress on the spring bedframe. Our favourite feature was the seclusion and the view of the sky/stars. The only reason I can’t rate the site a 5 is because the online information was misleading. Its a 2+ mile hike to the campsite from the parking area. Its a true hike with switchbacks and good elevation gain, so it took us about 50-60 mins to get to the tent (not the 15 minutes listed online). Since its a strenuous hike people should be prepared to have a backpacking backpack and pack light. We ran into a couple with a wagon that planned to bring a propane tank but never made it to the top. Additionally, I called tentrr to let them know our arrival time, but no one told me at the time the number to the tents’ lock. I went back to look in the prior emails, and I was never sent a lock number either. Our first night we got in late and couldn't get into the tent, until the next day when people were available to give us our key code. With that being said, the tentt staff during business hours was extremely helpful. I definitely plan to go back, but I’ll be better prepared next time.”
“Love:
1. The site was in a beautiful meadow. 2. Loved having the campfire and Adirondack chairs and the toilet.
3. The memory foam mattress was very comfy.
4. The extra tent was perfect. Easy to set up and spacious.
5. The canvas tent was spacious, sturdy and appreciated the little wooden side tables.
Dislike:
1. Not good communication between the state park and Tentrr. State park made us aware of code needed to enter tent. Only one email from Tentrr to state this and was not something that caught your eye. State park said many people have had issues not knowing there is a lock code.
2. State park did not know clearly where the Tentrr sites were and the map from Tentrr was not easy to navigate when there is just a gps drop point for the site. Ideally, Should be located on state park map.
3. State park map does not show water on the mountain and Tentrr did not let us know even when I called the site and asked. I was told I needed to carry it into the site even though there was a natural spring within a 1/4 of a mile.
4. Tentrr canvas tent had not been cleaned. Mattress cover had hair and bugs on it. Multiple bugs in the tent. It sure last time it had been cleaned.”
“The site is pretty. Located in a field with sunrise views and an easy 1/2 mile walk to Crany Crow overlook with spectacular sunset views.
More detailed directions to the site including elevation (1000’ gain in about a mile) on a path shared with horses would be helpful for most guests, when packing. We called the park ahead of time to get info as Tentrr communication and overalll helpfulness is lacking. The staff at Lost River is great!!!
Also although it didn’t bother us because there were no guests at the picnic area a heads up would be nice as this site would NOT be private if the picnic pavilion was occupied.
Our site had Trash left behind in the trash can, no water was at the site, and I had to sweep dirt, hair and leaves off the bed.
Most parks would prefer people to not gather wood from the forest floor and to use firewood available at the camp store. We had contacted our host to see if it would be possible to have firewood delivered to our site when they did the changeout. Lost River State Park suggested this. Our host never responded.
Overall this is a nice site, beautiful State Park and a fairly short but steep hike. We are experienced backpackers so we had zero issues. Pack light, LNT and enjoy the views.
Expect to see lots of people on your hike in/out and maybe a horse or two.”
“Really enjoyed the site and beautiful park. A few things though- when we arrived some guys were in our tentrr. We took the next one but that one didnt have any water (guys very nice to share their water). Also it looked like mice got in and chewed up the mattress a bit and left droppings. Also spider infiltration. I suggest signs to keep tent flaps closed at all times and also maybe better reservation system would help mitigate misunderstandings. Thanks”
“We had a great stay. Hunter was so helpful - he waited with our party for 40 minutes while we waited for our last members to join us, then he drove us to the parking site.
The site itself was lovely and clean and set up. The vegetation immediately around the tent area was quite overgrown - very long grass - and it would be nice to have just a slightly larger clearing to give us some buffer.”
