“I hesitate to share how truly peaceful, beautiful, comfortable and convenient our stay was because I selfishly want to keep this hidden gem to ourselves. The host was incredibly helpful in directing us to onsite running trails as well as restaurants in Ithaca. The bed was comfortable and town was a 5 minute drive. We already have booked our next stay!”
“We booked a stay from 8/14-8/15. Beautiful and convenient area to stay. We were looking for a relaxing camping experience, as we went hiking during the morning. For background, I am 5 months pregnant and I am an army veteran (so I am not unaccustomed to sleeping outdoors). We didn’t even wind up sleeping there that night and let the host know as soon as we knew. Upon entering the tent, you could see that the mattress protector was dirty. There were about 5 large spiders inside of the tent, what looked to be brown recluses. There were also flying ants inside of the tent.We did not feel, especially being pregnant, that it was safe to stay here. We immediately repacked our belongings and left to stay at a hotel instead. We knew there would be bugs being that we are “camping”, however not to the extent/amount that were inside of our tent. Our host was responsive all of our to our check-in questions. However, when we texted him saying that we were not staying the night and our reasons why, he did not respond.”
Hey there Alexis, thanks for your feedback here. Without honest reviews like yours, we wouldn't know where to improve. We are very sorry to hear that you had a less-than-ideal stay at one of our campsites. Since your review, we've gotten in touch with the host at this particular site and addressed some of your concerns. He is aware of them and moving forward with future bookings, will be more mindful of the items you mentioned. He also made a point to mention that he will be doing more regular checks on the tent and campsite for bugs and spiders when campers arrive.

“Ithaca has always been my favorite slice of heaven on earth. It has been years since I’d been back here and I needed to introduce my two young kids and our dog to their first Ithaca and camping experience. South Hill Cider is not only beautiful but the owner, Steve, is very kind and helpful. There is even a cool rustic restaurant on the property (but a good distance from the camping site) that has a fantastic menu full of hard ciders to taste and local farm to table foods! The platform canopy tent with full size cot was very comfortable and my two kids loved sleeping in the additional 4-6 person tent! The kids also loved swinging on the bench swing while we got the fire pit ready to make s’mores. This spot is high in the hills, ever so slightly nestled in the woods along the edge of a wild field. The sunsets are amazing and we delighted in the sounds of the owls and forest critters, catching fire flies, and spending quality time together unplugged. Our dog also loved her first time camping!
If you prefer a more secluded camping experience, this is definitely a fantastic choice! We will definitely be going back and recommending this spot to our friends and family!

“Located on the beautiful grounds of the truly excellent South Hill Cider, this site affords nice views, ample sun protection, relative privacy, and easy access to all of Ithaca’s enticements. You hear some distant highway traffic, but it’s not bothersome. The second Tentrr site on the property is in close proximity, which would be an advantage if you were booking both sites as a larger group. The second site was unoccupied during our stay and so we enjoyed the privacy. The tent was pristine, the mattress quite comfortable, and there was plenty of floor space for our two kids, who slept next to the bed on camping pads. The camp toilet is super clean & functional. We had a lovely campfire (with thanks to South Hill Cider for the ample wood and kindling).
Note that a Tentrr tent is inherently a bit more porous (a few inevitable cracks at the corners) than a camping tent you pitch yourself: mosquitos were not a problem but we did have a few spider guests. We shooed them out and all was fine.
Finally, make sure to book a tasting at South Hill Cider. The cider is world class, the food is delicious, and the staff is incredibly nice and knowledgeable. It’s a very child friendly place with toys for kids and a welcoming atmosphere. Thanks, South Hill Cider!”
