“The listing for this awesome camp site does not do it justice. It's even better than we thought it would be! They provided toilet paper and regularly dropped off more firewood as needed. They even set up the camp with enough chairs for all the guests around the fire pit and have us a little welcome bag with everything to make smores. The site itself was right next to a little creek with a hammock near by. We had a great time!”
“Our hosts went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. They gave us privacy and space but were always willing to help if we needed anything. At one point we ran out of ice and they offered to grab us some from the local convenience store. The layout of the camp with the brook and trails we could walk was so peaceful. It was very clean and the hosts provided more than expected to ensure our stay was pleasant (a safe heating element in the tent, tools for the campfire, even a pop-up shower which we didn’t get a a chance to use). Absolutely wonderful, we will definitely be coming here again!”
“I highly recommend the Babbling Brook location in Pittsville, VA just 30 minutes southeast of Roanoke! The privacy was perfect! You are plenty far away from the Campkeepers home! They couldn’t hear you unless you screamed at the top of your lungs.
Our Campkeepers, Jay and Jennifer, were very friendly and accommodating. They even offered to drive back into town for us should we need more ice or other necessities!
The tent sits on their 117 acre property, offering a beautiful creek/brook just 15 feet from the tent! The soothing sound of water is just mesmerizing at night.
There was a nice 0.85 mile flat trail loop already carved out for you to walk with three or so relatively easy creek crossings. Our dogs absolutely loved it!
Also, there’s a similar 0.8 mile path for you you to walk with more elevation that passes by the Campkeepers home, but not close enough for you to feel like you’re in their backyard.
The site comes with a canvas tent, propane heater (which definitely did the job when the temperature drop in the 20’s our first night), normaltoilet seat with a bucket and bag system (there is powder in the bag that gels your liquid and collect the rest. Just change it out after every use and it’s a perfect setup!), an open fire pit with a rotating grill top to cook on a cask iron pan (They have all the tools needed to move the fire logs, which they provided more than enough!). They even set us up with a goodie bag for s’mores, including loads of chocolate, marshmallows, and gram crackers! Also, they provide you with a blowtorch to make lighting the fire a breeze! No hassle at all.
Lastly, there are two benches on the site around the campfire, two lawn chairs, two lazy boy lawn chairs for relaxing, two Adirondack chairs on the wood tent platform porch, and lastly a beautiful hammock permanently connected to two very near by trees over the edge of the creek/brook.
I couldn’t possibly recommend this site anymore than I’ve done. It was a blissful disconnect for society, reality, and technology (zero service).
My wife and I plan to return this summer!”
