“We had a lovely time at Lakeside Gunks. Lauren and Jim were very attentive and communicative before and during our stay. The site is lovely! We would recommend packing shoes with good grip as the incline is steep and can be slippery in the rain. Plan ahead for trash/recycling as the New Paltz Recycling center is closed on Sundays/Mondays (we left on Labor Day, so obviously, the location was closed). Overall, lovely experience!”
“We had an awesome time here. The views are even better than the pictures. We brought some rafts to float around and cool off in the lake, and also enjoyed the rowboat. Excellent location, convenient to everything. Would love to come back! Thank you!!!”
“Waking up in the tent with the flaps open seeing the reflection of the tree canopy on the pond was glorious. Directions to the site could be more clear but once you're settled in, be prepared for a treat. We were happy we brought our SUV but you could "get by" with a smaller car on the dirt. The site is significantly sloped, so it requires parking your car at the top of a hill, tent and table are halfway, then fire pit and chairs, then water. Something to keep in mind. The metal fire pit was lovely, compared to others that are just a couple rocks in a circle on the ground. We only needed to contact the host once upon arrival for clarification with exact directions, she answered immediately and was extremely helpful. That was the only time we needed to make contact but they would've been helpful should other things come up. My only recommendation would be create some type of permanent hook for the camp shower to hang, as there were not low-lying branches to easily hang it.”
“spent a great weekend here along the lake w the gunks in the background. the campsite was large and private and had everything we could need. hopped in the row boat during the day and explored the area around, watching eagles hunting above in the mornings. we took a short drive over to coxing trail and lounged in the split rock swimming hole. highly recommended. the campsite is also close to town, so if we needed anything, it was easy to get. lauren and jim were great hosts who reached out before and after the stay making sure everything was in order. we would absolutely come back in the future.”
