On the way up to the site the campkeeper, John, said casually that he didn't realize his neighbor was planning to fertilize his field that day. When we arrived at the top, there was a tractor, spraying manure in the hot sun in the same field as the tent, with swarms of flies to go with it. When I mentioned the smell, John was dismissive--"it's farmland," he said. The farmer, on the other hand, saw this as the problem it was. He was nice enough to stop his tractor and come over to offer profuse apologies. He said he didn't know anyone was staying at the site but that the smell should fade by the evening. We left immediately to spend the afternoon in the charming village of Callicoon, returning to the site at dusk. The smell had faded somewhat, so we stayed the night. In the morning we cooked breakfast on the fire but then the flies were back, on us and on the food. We left to go hiking, returning only to pack up and go home because spending any time at the site in daylight hours was awful. Tentrr, disappointingly, would only refund one night, so I suppose dung and flies are now considered part of the glamping experience. I would have given this site a higher rating without the manure and flies but still it's overpriced and in need of an upgrade. The outdoor toilet seat was warped and cracked, I had to clear weeds out of the firepit to use it and the outdoor kitchen cabinet was full of old junk and moldy condiments. There was no water barrel and no sun shower, though I have yet to stay at a Tentrr site with a working sun shower.

Hey there, thanks for your feedback here. Without honest reviews like yours, we wouldn't know where to improve. We are very sorry to hear that you had a less-than-ideal stay at one of our campsites. Since your review, we've gotten in touch with the host at this particular site and addressed some of your concerns. He is aware of them and moving forward with future bookings, will be more mindful of the items you mentioned. Again, we apologize for the situation that occurred, but hope to see you out camping with us again soon! Cheers! The Tentrr Team

This was an amazing camp site. Very large space with a lot of privacy. Enjoyed the beautiful weather with a group of friends and could not have asked for a better camp site. John was very friendly and responsive to any requests and questions my party had. Overall, would like to return to this site in the future.

This place was a dream! And John was just the best. He was extremely responsive before our trip and helped the 6 of us get up to his site, brought us firewood and when we realized we needed sleeping bags as well as our comforters, he let us borrow his own sleeping bags! He was so kind. His site was absolutely beautiful with the most incredible views. We had planned on checking out the area, but we just couldn’t get ourselves to leave. Highly, highly recommend his field of dreams and a huge thank You to John for his generosity and assistance.

Site is beautiful, scenery and views were enjoyed by all. The field is well maintained and there's a lot of gorgeous surrounding areas to explore. The property is lovely and feels remote, despite being close to several cute towns and stores. Gorgeous sunsets and amazing stars at night. The host John was thorough and welcoming, helping us back and forth up the hill (not all our cars were 4WD) and providing gear and recommendations as asked for, as well as privacy for our stay.

John was extremely nice and helpful during our stay on his amazing property. We had such a fun and relaxing time at his campsite. I planned this for my birthday and I couldn't have been more happy with the weekend. Definitely would stay here again!

We had a wonderful experience at John's campsite. There were 5 of us total, and a dog, and all of us had a lovely time with the space. The tent(s) were great, the firepit, table, etc were all clean and easy to use. The site itself is gorgeous with a fantastic view of the sunset over the hill, and the moon through the trees at night. Stars are perfect to watch above. As a host, John was extremely accommodating, answering all of our questions beforehand over email, and helping us get set up upon arrival, including using his outlet down by his house to inflate an air mattress. His site is also near to a bunch of great places (restaurants, gas station, Woodstock, Delaware River, etc. A few recs for future visitors: arrive before nightfall (the drive to the tent can be tricky at night), have a car with 4WD, bring good lighting/lanterns because (obviously) it's dark! Thanks again to John for helping us have a great time.
