The site is large and feels private. You get a beautiful view of Lake Huron and your own path to the beach. The walk from the parking lot to the site is about .2 miles and Tentrr provides a shared cart for each of the sites to help move your gear. On one of our two nights, there were annoying black flies that bit but mostly went away after using bug spray and citronella incense. Our family had an amazing weekend at the site.

Our trip to the Tentrr site J at Sleeper State Park was AWESOME! Beautiful setting right on a small dune above the (dog friendly) beach. The tent was spacious - comfortable queen bed and we were able to fit a Disc-O-Bed (bunkbed style) and a small cot so all 5 of us could sleep in the tent. And, the canvas "safari" tent kept us well protected from some heavy rain overnight. The site hosts, Jamie and Becky were outstanding - friendly, accommodating and great with communication. If you're looking into these sites, note that they are "hike" in - not long, but you can't drive up to the sites. There is a great gorilla cart for use to haul your items in and out, but the farthest site is about 300 yards from the parking lot. Also, note that the beachside sites don't go in alphabetical order -from closest to farthest from parking lot: I, H, J, G. Our only complaint was related to the ridiculous number of bugs - nothing Tentrr could do about it and it's a problem everywhere.

Unfortunately, I have to give this one star because we didn't even stay at this site. This is hard to review because in the end we had a great time at our site. We ended up staying at site E because site J was booked the same weekend I had booked. My issue is with Tentrr... I had originally requested a booking back in early July for site J. It took a week to have my reservation officially "confirmed" after calling several times. I then had several weeks to look forward to and plan our trip up North. My boyfriend and I were ready to go when THE DAY BEFORE my trip was CANCELLED!!!! I went into panic mode. I called Tentrr and while friendly they said there was nothing they could do because the park was now handling reservations. So I had to make several more phone calls to try to figure out what was going on. It appeared to me that the park started taking their own reservations for Tentrr sites which lead to MULTIPLE double bookings. Frustrating that Tentrr didn't call or email to try to help rebook. I had to call the park reservations line and I was able to book site E instead but had to shift my days (and also rebook a kayak trip as a result). Site E was interesting, boarded up cabins surrounding the Tentrr tents. Creepy cabin #13 was site E's next door neighbor. We were also rather far from the parking lot which made unloading a nightmare. This is far from what I had envisioned when I booked this beach camping vacation. We ended up making the best of the trip and had a great time. The Tentrr site was missing some items we thought we would have (Tentrr Loo, water). However, the site was clean and the tent was great. We stayed dry through a huge thunderstorm one night. In the end, Sleeper State Park is a beautiful place and I would go back in a heartbeat.

Great experience (except for a little hiccup in the first 30 minutes since these were newly built when we got there). We were originally placed in site J (this listing) but moved to site G as a result of the issue. Site J was fixed within hours of us flagging the issue and is now perfect! Great view, a little set back from the beach AND the road which is nice. Be mindful if you select other sites you'll be closer to the road, and the beach, so it's definitely a bit of a tradeoff, but we weren't bothered by the sound of traffic too much. It's the closest site to the lot you park in which is convenient for those with little ones, or who are pregnant like me. Beach is close and accessible via the trail nearby and the bed is comfy, and the bathroom was surprisingly nice! We had friends visit who were super impressed with it. We've stayed in DNR yurts before and I preferred this Tentrr experience to those. Helen was a great host and answered all of our questions beforehand, and helped quickly mitigate issues while we were there - she was wonderful! Would definitely stay here again.
