We could hear the highway which took away from the experience and the site was all dust which made things very messy. Nice spot to get away but not the nature type spot we look for to relax.

Had a fantastic Labor Day weekend at Normanton Farms! Secluded, spacious, comfortable and truly beautiful, it was an ideal getaway after six months of close-quarters apartment living. Not remote enough that it was a pain to get to or that we were worried about bears, there was surprisingly ample wildlife on the river—from fish literally jumping out of the water to cormorants, blue heron, kingfishers, hummingbirds, and osprey! First time in my life I've regretted never having taken up fishing. Seemed a waste. The only thing I wish I'd known prior to arrival (and perhaps should have guessed, based on the map) is that there is some highway noise that comes across the river. Certainly wasn't enough to put a damper on the weekend, though; in fact, it was a comfort to my fiancee, who gets a little skittish about critters when the sun goes down. And do note the phrase "fiancee"—because prior to our experience at Normanton Farms, I would've just said "girlfriend". The site was a perfectly serene place to unplug from the world, connect more deeply with each other, and ask that big question. Safe to say that Normanton Farms will always be a special place to us.
