“Terrific site overlooking a creek. Great accommodations, including cooking supplies, bags, paper towels, toys for kids, and a booklet of places to visit and things to see. The host was very friendly and gave helpful recommendations of things to do in the area. Although there is a bit of an uphill walk to get to the tent, they helped bring our bags up and down using a jeep.
The tent, shower, and loo were all clean and in good shape, and there were convenient string lights in and around the tent for night use.
The creek itself is fun to splash around in and there are a couple of hikes around the site.
Overall a great site, excellent hosts and a great place for a couple or family to spend a few nights. Highly recommend!”
“Stephen was a warm and helpful host who reached out to see if we needed anything. The grounds are well maintained, private and perfect for lite forest walks around the campsite. The creek was perfect for splashing about.
We went with a our 4 year old and 3 month old and were totally able to sleep with all of us in the tenttr bed comfortably. Our elderly dog enjoyed sleeping in various spots of the camp ground lol.
We hope to be back in the future.”
“The title says it all. Came with my two boys ages 6 and 8 who loved every minute of this lovely, idyllic camp nestled by a creek on the top of an isolated, hidden hill. What made our stay sweeter were the hosts Mr Bill and Mr Stephen - who are such beautiful and generous hosts and human beings. This place is a treasure exactly an hour from Manhattan. We are sure to return again, soon.”
“Bill was a fantastic and accommodating host. He helped to outfit the camp with new amenities to make our stay more comfortable including a new shower and a tarp shelter for our kitchen for some rain passing through. We had a great 2-night stay at this private campsite. There's fresh spring water available on-site as well as a nice creek right behind the camp site. There are great amenities close by including a field nearby on property as well as disc golf at a public course just 10-minutes away by car. There is a hill to hike up getting to the site, but Bill was always accommodating and helpful moving our things up and down by car. We hope to return soon!”
“From our arrival to our departure, Stephen was a courteous and professional host.
The tent site is located up a mountain on the property and sits just above a beautiful stream. The constant sound of the stream is beyond soothing. It rained both nights we stayed there and between the peaceful sound of rain and the stream, I got some of the best sleep in months.
The location is very central to some very good hiking trails and Cold Spring is 15 minutes away. I will be returning and recommending this spot to friends and family.”
“This was a perfect getaway site! I booked last minute but the host was very accommodating and great with communication. The site was secluded, clean and had everything I needed. Yes the walk up is steep, but wasn't an issue for me and they transported all of my gear up for me in the back of a jeep which was really nice. I would come back again for sure.”
“This was hands-down one of the most amazing and beautiful camping experiences we've ever had.
Stephen and Bill were phenomenal hosts - super-available, very helpful getting all of our stuff up the hill to the site, and they continued to be available throughout our stay, checking in and offering up more spring water and wood in case we needed (we didn't), and finally bringing our stuff back down right after we packed up.
*Probably worth mentioning that the hill to the site is pretty steep, though short. It's basically a 4 min walk from the parking area. But this really only adds to the feeling of being off alone in the wilderness. Call it a medium-difficulty mini-hike. For perspective, my 6-month pregnant wife had no problem with it and I was able to carry our son (just shy of 3yrs old) up the hill on my back, though I was definitely out of breath at the top.
The site itself is gorgeous, situated right at the bend in the creek that made for a constant breeze flowing through the camp, keeping the tent cool and blowing the smoke from the firepit off and away. Our son had the time of his life, running around free in the woods with our dog and playing in the creek in the many small (safe) little pools that formed between the waterfalls.
Bottom line, this is a true hidden gem and we can't recommend it enough. We have already told a number of people who plan to stay there themselves and we can't wait to return!”
