“This is a beautiful campsite overlooking a very pleasant valley. Our hosts were excellent making sure we had all we needed and giving us tips about what to do and where to go. The kids loved looking at the horses and chickens and running around in the forest. What a great way to spend a long weekend!”
“My wife and I spent a few delightful and serene evenings at the Middlefield Mountain Retreat on the hill above Monica and Ken’s horse farm near Cooperstown, New York. Ken and Monica are incredible and delightfully accommodating hosts. We drove our hybrid sedan rather than one of our other vehicles and then realized that the road up to site was better suited for an AWD or 4 wheel drive. We ended up throwing our gear of the back of Monica’s pickup and she hauled us up to the site. Ken followed with an ATV in case when needed a vehicle to get up and down the hill. They provided us with some firewood, some suggestions on the local Cooperstown sites, and some thier numbers in case we needed to reach them. The one day we did head into Cooperstown we ended up walking up and down hill to our car on the farm. It was a bit of a challenge walking up with a few local beers in the backpack, but good fun.
The site itself is very well maintained, incredibly peaceful, and provides some beautiful views of the valley. We regret not visiting the caves up near the site, but did not have enough time to do so. We may have spent a bit too much time enjoying the fire pit, admiring the view, and listening to the Geese head south. It was an incredibly relaxing couple of days that will be remembered fondly. If we get back to area again, we live out in the Northwest, we will certainly stay again up on the hill behind Ken and Monica’s horse farm.

“What a beautiful site. Monica was a great host, super communicative and helpful during our entire stay. Even though the site is in a wooded area, there's lots of natural light to enjoy. What's the best though is all the extras provided. From four-wheeling to meeting the horses and kayaking, Monica ensured we had an one-of-a-kind experience. Thanks again for everything!”
