When our kids were small we used to be avid campers, usually going to Lake George. Now that we are empty nesters we decided we wanted to upscale our camping experience as sleeping on the ground in a traditional tent no longer has an appeal. We just wanted to be outdoors in a really comfortable spot. Red Creek Hideaway didn’t disappoint! It’s really true when they say that it’s more like a cabin in the woods. When you get there you have to park at the top of the hill and walk down to the tent. Everything is clearly marked and it’s only a few steps to the campsite. There is a wagon to move your stuff and there is even a flashlight with the wagon in case you arrive at night. At the campsite you have all the amenities you need to be comfortable. We were so surprised to see the hot shower even though we knew it was there. It worked better than we expected and it was so nice to be able to follow our usual shower routine before bed. We are actually thinking of doing this setup at our own house as showering outdoors in the summer is a great idea and fun too. Everything was clean and they supplied so many things we didn’t even think to bring. On the first morning after our stay we made coffee and brought it down to the creek to enjoy the sunshine. It was so relaxing and beautiful there. They have a dock setup on the creek with a couple of zero-gravity chairs with little side tables that are super comfortable. We could have stayed there all day. We were pleasantly surprised at how close we were to downtown Cooperstown, and to Lake Otsego in particular. We just didn’t have time to explore Cooperstown on this trip but we will certainly be back for an extended stay!
