“This stay was extremely disappointing. Before our arrival we messaged the hosts on airbnb, emailed and finally texted before hearing back. We had arrived friday afternoon to a deflated air matress and a tent full of wasps. This was extra volatile because I have a horrible fear of wasps, and there was a hive in the bunk bed, in the walls of the ten tent, and in the wooden box that was covering the large burn hole on the deck. This was already an indication that the host had not checked the site before our arrival. It took us a full two days to really lower the wasp population in the tent, and I woke up to one very close to my face.
The weather was excruciatingly hot and the site had very little shade, and we had known this ahead of time from another review. We were sold on the fact that there was a pond right there because it was my moms birthday and she loves to fish. My mom did catch a lot of fish, and me, my partner, and our dog were excited to swim to cool off. Turns out, the pond had leaches which covered our dogs paws (thank god we found none on ourselves). The tentrr site advertised that the pond was “great for swimming” so this was quite disappointing... not to mention all the seaweed. We were thankful it didn’t rain as there are multiple holes in the roof of the tent, probably what makes the wood on the toilet crack and split (so we did not use that toilet). The grass under the picnic table was maybe 3 feet high, and after the wasp ordeal, I was not sticking my legs in knee high weeds to eat my dinner. The sun shower was kinda moldy, and the pump for the air mattress was stored improperly and no longer worked, so we had to use a manual pump. What a workout. The noise coming from the interstate at night is louder than if the place had been full of cicadas.
i really didn’t expect a lot, and I truly expected to be roughing it a little bit. We had looked at other Airbnb’s with more amenities but decided on this one for the pond and the bunk bed and the location. But what we received was NOT worth the price point of $125 a night. i expected a swimmable pond and a tent without multiple wasp nests. canoe and kayak rental were $20 a day and campfire wood was $10 a bundle. By saturday night we already had booked a new place for the rest of our weekend that was cheaper and ALL inclusive, had running water and complimentary eggs and bacon.
It’s worth mentioning that we didn’t bring these issues to the hosts attention and so cannot speak on how they would have handled it. However, they barely welcomed us, were a bit standoffish, and already showed they didn’t care very much, so we decided to leave rather than say anything.”
“I am sorry to say this site was terrible need major maintenance or Shute down lake was great but everything else was neglected land space is very very small wet land over grown weeds tent have holes big bugs n bees entering water inside tent I check in n out at the same time I will not recommend until maintenance is done just to up keep this place I give 1 star zero if was possible”
“Perfect place for a family with young kids. We loved having our own pond. It was a perfect first experience for the kids. Air mattresses needed to be changed after first night when they completely lost all air. Make sure you check them when you arrive.”
“We had an amazing trip. The spot is right on a pond where the mist swirls in the sunrise and the smooth glass-like surface was perfect for a fishing canoe ride. We hiked, fished, roasted marshmallows, and just relaxed on this pretty pond a short distance from a nicely kept farm. The bunk bed and tent were great and the host provided extra chairs for sitting around the area to take in the stars, sunrise, or just watch the quiet pond. There was a train whistle from time to time, but for us that just made the scene.”
“The place is absolutely gorgeous and ideal for families with kids. It was a very nice experience. There is almost no shade so if you don’t want to be directly under the sun, take an umbrella or use the dome tent. We loved the end-of-summer sun. One of the air mattresses was flat after a few minutes the first night but the owners changed it the day after.
Wonderful weekend overall !”
“Grounds are excellent and view of pond is perfect for sunrise. There’s a bunk bed inside the tent since no pictures exist of the inside. Air mattress (blue color) still deflates in the middle of the night so bringing your own mattress might help. Other than that Michaela is great and would stay here again.”
“Great view of the pond and very relaxing. There is no shade so multiple dips in the pond to cool off. Only down fall was that the air mattresses didn't hold up. Looking forward to another night.”
