Having upgraded from a P1 4 years ago to a P3 then an RP8 and finally the P8 with Apheta3 I would say I know Rega tables but every one offered that bit more until the P8 which was an astounding improvement! Beautifully made, functional and fantastic sound, which I’m sure will be improved upon when I collect my new valve amplifier! If I had to find a fault or floor it would be only this, the stylus guard is extremely small and very fiddly to fit! And causes me to be very nervous when trying to fit it! But aside of that the TT itself is amazing! I don’t normally stick with the same manufacturer however the Regas have offered everything I’ve wanted and come to expect!

Having previously owned a Rega Planar 2 and the Planar 3 I was considering an upgrade to the Rega P8. The detail from the P8 is fantastic and the treble, bass and mid-range are very well balanced. The build quality is superb and the setup out of the box is very straightforward. I listened to the P8 against the Linn Majik LP12 and to my ears the P8 had the edge although, of course, the Linn is an excellent turntable as well. I went for the Apheta 2 MC cartridge, plus the Rega Neo PSU both of which are an enhancement to the P8 and the rest of my Naim based system. Audiobarn gave a very good, highly professional service and Jack also gave me a very fair trade in price for my previous Rega Planar 3 and Fono MM stage.

I purchased this turntable as an alternative to a Linn Sondek. For me the sound was far more detailed and accurate than the Linn with more convincing bass. I also was impressed by the engineering quality and the ease of setup out of the box, it is not subject to the vagaries of having to be built by a Linn qualified technician after delivery and requires no subsequent servicing. I opted for the Alpheta 2 MC cartridge and added the matching phono amplifier. Both sound superb on my Naim system. Jack at Audiobarn provided a great service and gave me a very good trade in price against a pair of high end headphones, my old Rega turntable and a FlatCap external power supply that added very little to my Super Nait 2 amplifier.
