“Sonically, the Linn Ekstatik mc cartridge is a significant improvement on the Linn Candid mc cartridge. It doesn't appear to pick up much fluff on the record and appears to reduce the sound of static discharges on the record. I don't think I will be using fine grade sand paper to clean the stylus - like I did on the Candid. The cantilever upon which the stylus is mounted appears to be longer on the Ekstatik and could be susceptible to damage if I tried this. The Ekstatik's arm weight on a Linn Ekos SE is 2g down weight. I haven't found the need to adjust this despite variations in room temperature and humidity. The Candid was at 1.74g and sometimes I felt the need to adjust this weight. Steve, from Audio Barn, came to my house and fitted the Ekastatik. Excellent service.”

“The Ekstatik is an excellent cartridge, exceptionally refined and revealing. After Steve had carefully removed and refitted the Ekos tonearm complete with the new cartridge, the first record immediately sounded crisp albeit dry and the soundstage was rather restricted. This has improved significantly over the course of the first week (Linn say it needs 40 hours minimum). Detail and bass depth are noticeably improved and the soundstage has extended. One point to note is the long and therefore potentially vulnerable cantilever.”
