I demo’d the Lina and Bartok Apex - based on their great performance took the step up to Rossini Apex DAC and never looked back! End game performance. Thanks Jack for great service and support!

Just when you thought it couldn't get any better, I was the very proud owner of a DCS Bartok, it was a huge step up from my also very much loved Naim ND5 XS2, everything I played was so engaging, then I heard about Apex and felt compelled to listen to it. What a journey, Jack suggested I try the Rossini, I was intrigued, would I hear a significant difference? I most certainly did, hard to really explain what happened but another total shift in clarity, instrument definition and detail, it's a joy and once again a new journey through all my music. Point to note I read so many reviews and added the Rossini Clock day 1, so a lot has happened and it's amazing!

I upgraded to the Rossini APEX from the Bartok last October. A lot has been written about the nature of the improvements APEX brings, so I’ll simply say it does indeed represent a significant step up in all aspects of sound quality and musical enjoyment. What might be more useful here is to summarise my experience of using the Rossini APEX. Burn-in makes a big difference. While it starts to sound good after a couple of days, it needs a couple of weeks or more to really open out. The effect of the filter and mapper options seem to follow-on from Bartok 2.0 and I found I could carry over my favoured settings. An exception to this is the output voltage. With Bartok 6v sounded best. With APEX, as the analogue section seems much stronger, 2v is all you need. More impactful and energised than the Bartok, it was beneficial to tweak speaker positioning and toe-in angle for best results. The biggest set-up difference from the Bartok is driven by the quality of the APEX analogue output stage. With Bartok, I always preferred the use of a pre-amp. Something seemed to be missing when connecting straight to the power amps. The sound was certainly very detailed, but somehow needed more ‘flesh on the bone’. Analogue output with APEX, however, is more potent. Connecting straight into power amps is very impressive, in fact this is now my preferred option. The overall effect is quite transformational. It forces you to reappraise your entire system. So be warned!

It's hard to say specifically what the APEX upgrade brings, but it certainly brings something. Everything seems a bit more lively, and I think clearer in complex music.

I was recommended to try the dCS Bartok to improve on my NDX2. The Bartok won over the suggested opposition auditioned at The Audiobarn. However, I could not resist the opportunity to go further with the Rossini and new Apex.

Very happy with the purchase of the dCS Rossini APEX DAC. I only wish I had moved away from CDs earlier! Jack gave me a great trade in on my Naim CDS3 and 555ps. I thought I would miss my cherished CDS3 which gave me a lot of pleasure for many years. But there is nothing to miss. The far superior resolution, clarity, 3D sound staging, together with the massive convenience of quickly finding high-resolution audio files of my favourite artists on Qobuz means that listening to music has never been more relaxing and enjoyable. Thank you!

I bought the Rossini DAC after several auditions at The Audiobarn and at home. I guess it took a while for me to fully appreciate its abilities, but in the end I preferred it to various alternatives that I listened to from Naim, Linn, Chord, MSB and CH Precision. Now that I have bought one I'm very happy with it, it's a well designed and built piece of kit capable of superb sound.

The Rossini replaced an existing dCS Purcell/Delius system and I couldn’t be happier. The Rossini is ridiculously good, making me laugh out loud on several occasions with the quality of music coming from it.
