The Shunyata Research Sigma-X XC cable has been a valuable upgrade for my system, replacing a Shunyata Delta XC cable connecting my Everest 8000 to the wall. Although the Delta XC did a sterling job with my previous power setup, the move to the Everest highlighted the need for a better cable. Graeme had some spot-on advice for me around the different Shunyata cable families and flavours, and I am really pleased with the results from the Sigma-X XC. The new cable has provided a much better sense of separation and sound stage in the system and I was particularly pleased with the significant improvement in bass clarity and speed, which is always a key for me. It really is a great complement to the Everest power supply, a necessity even, if you are going to get the most out of the Everest. The other positive about Shunyata cables that I realised in this instance, and which is easy to overlook, is how very flexible and easy to install they are in comparison to some other high-end cables. Highly recommended.

When the “itch” to improve / spend more money on my hifi system became too great I trialled some new power cables. Shunyata has always been the go-to brand for power, Ethernet, and clock cables. I did try their speaker cables but Transparent Reference were clear winners with my system. I upgraded from the Shunyata Alpha power cables between the wall and Hydra 6 and between it and the amp and streamer to the Sigma X range (coupled with a new Typhon between the wall and the Hydra). Thanks to Ben for travelling to deepest Surrey to demo in situ. I think we were both impressed at the time by the difference these cables / Typhon made; more than sufficient for me to place an order. The equipment was installed two days ago (thanks to Ben for another excursion, and manhandling heavy amps and streamers etc to ensure tidiness with cable runs etc). With only a few days of bedding in / warming up the improvements are extraordinary. I still find unfathomable the concept of better mains / distribution systems having such a marked effect on the sound quality. But let your ears persuade you, they did me. As a PS, some time ago I also trialled a new clock cable between the dCS Rossini streamer and clock. When in the trial we went up the ranges to the Shunyata Omega clock cable, Andy who was with me for the demo and I both burst out laughing the difference was so good / great. These cables are expensive but definitely worth it for the improvements they bring.

Having recently been fortunate to add a Shunyata Everest to my system, I needed to also upgrade some of my power cables. Shunyata was the natural choice, so I went with Sigma-X for my amplifier. The Sigma-X I found to be truly transformational providing a much wider/deeper soundstage, richer vocals, better dynamics, and also better resolution of individual voices (in a harmony) or instruments (in an orchestra). I also bought a Theta for some of my other components and whilst a good step-up compared to my previous cables, the Sigma-X was in a league of its own. The cable is impeccably made, and despite its girth was surprisingly flexible and comes with a plug-lock insert which you can add to the plug if needed to give it a tighter fit into your equipment. Highly recommended.

Installed to power an Everest and a clear upgrade over Sigma V2

Bought to accompany my Everest; I demo'd the Alpha-X as well, but felt that the Sigma-X brought a richer, more musical portrayal to the sound and hence worth the extra.
