“I bought 3 Gentex SCRR (918-0033-002) to replace my 5 year old Gentex GN503FF smoke alarms after they hit the 5 year EOL. The build of the newer ones seem of a lot lower quality. I can't get the battery drawer to open half the time and it just feels cheap. The leds once were encased and only shined out thru the small hole they were in and were invisible except from right underneath it. The new ones the led light bleeds out from every crack in the case lighting the ceiling and walls. It makes it looks like it is falling apart. It does make a nice nightlight except in the bedroom where it is blinding. I hope these work as well as the older ones but the enshitification of everything shines bright in these new ones..”
