The Liberty 30 is the 30cm/12" entry-level, push-propelled mower in the new and unique range of Allett cordless cylinder mowers.
Employing the advances in new technology,  the Allett Liberty 30 is powered by a 40 volt 4Ah lithium-ion battery which will cover about 600 square metres - that's around 40 minutes of mowing time - on a single battery charge. The cost per battery charge is a mere 5 pence! Eliminating the noise, fuss and fumes of petrol, with the added advantage of no power cable to restrict you, starting the machine is easy and convenient with push button start. Six speed options allow you to select the pace to suit you.
The mower has a compact 30cm (12") cutting width and is equipped with a five-bladed cutting cylinder to give a fine finish. Featuring front and rear rollers, the Liberty 30 will also give a desirable striped effect on your lawn. The cutting height can be adjusted through five pre-set positions between 6mm and 32mm. Grass clippings are collected in the 32 litre polypropylene grass box.
The Allett Liberty 30 cylinder mower offers a greener, quieter alternative to help keep your lawn perfectly striped and in pristine condition.
For additional lawn care, an optional scarifier cartridge can be fitted easily in place of the cutting cylinder (see related items below).

Excellent idea if, like me, you want a cylinder mower that gives a good scissor cut to the grass and leaves neat stripes, but for medical reasons or just advancing age, don't or can't use the Qualcast of old. So this is essentially a Qualcast-like machine, except that the blades are worked by a li-ion battery motor, while you walk behind supplying the push. After using this Allett machine for four cuts of the lawn, I'm impressed by its cutting efficiency, and it leaves super stripes. It also has the air of a machine that is well made and solid - built to last. Why do I give it 4 instead of 5 stars? Answer is, because when the machine first arrived, I needed to do the old-fashioned "paper-cutting test" and make adjustments in the "on-cut" screws, because the blades were giving more pressure on one side of the cutting plate than the other. The instruction book was pretty sketchy on how to do this, and I imagine that if a buyer had no previous experience of adjusting the "on cut", it would be a struggle, to say the least. And in any case, I think that when one is paying £670 or so for a mower, the least the supplier could do is get their own mechanics to set the blades at an even pressure on both sides before it's despatched, so the buyer would really get it "set up and ready to go".
