New for 2020 and in support of the cordless evolution, Cobra has added a 2-in-1 battery-powered lawn scarifier / aerator to its 40 volt battery-powered, growing range of gardening equipment. Now you achieve a healthier, greener lawn without the nuisance and mess of petrol or the restraint of a power cable.
The versatile Cobra S3840V is supplied with two interchangeable drums which enable you to easily switch between different tasks; the 24 specially formed spring tines are ideal for gentle scarification to remove unwanted moss, weeds and thatch from the surface that starve your lawn of vital nutrients and air; the 14 hardened steel blades perforate the soil for more intensive lawn care to improve the circulation of water, nutrients and air to the grass roots. Debris is deposited into a spacious 45 litre collection bag.
Featuring a 38cm working width, the Cobra S3840V is powered by a 5.0Ah 40 volt lithium-ion battery which will give 25 to 35 minutes of run time, which plenty to cover a small to medium lawn in one go. The working depth is adjustable, ranging between -10 - +5mm.
Lightweight at just 14.5kg, the machine is quiet in operation and its handles are folding for more compact storage.

“First impression is the product is well engineered, quite and like two different shafts one to Scarifier and other to aearator. It’s too early to tell but concerned at size of the battery and how many years it will last.”

“Have owned this for a couple of weeks now but only just got round to using it for the first time on my front lawn. Assembly is straight forward, instructions are clear and the machine feels sturdy when built up. The battery will need charging before first use. I'd already cut the lawn short, treated it to a moss killer application and manually removed any large weeds about 7 days beforehand in preparation. I started scarifying with the rake cassette installed on the highest setting (1) and the amount of moss and dead grass it pulls out each pass is unbelievable. My lawn hadn't been scarified for at least 3 years so i was emptying out the collection bag after each pass initially. I then changed direction slightly and lowered the machine a bit more (2) and went over the whole lawn again, extracting plenty more dead grass. There's a useful power gauge on the handle which you press for an indication of remaining battery life. I still had half power left so swapped in the bladed cassette on setting (2) and continued to aerate the lawn, again quite a bit more dead stuff was removed as it cut shallow grooves into the soil, ready for overseeding. Overall very satisfied with the performance and convenience of cordless, even though it's slighty more expensive than i wanted to pay. My only negative would be the size of the collection bag could do with being a bit larger, especially as you'll be emptying it out every 30 seconds to begin with.”
