SCH 55" Hay Rake (10 Tines) Reviews

Read The Green Reaper Reviews

This hay rake has been developed by British manufacturer SCH Supplies as a result of many requests from people cultivating wild flower meadows. The SCH towed hay rake is designed to remove the top cuttings effectively and with minimum effort. With a 140cm (55") working width, this model is equipped with 10 tines. The rake is easily emptied from the tractor seat; simply pull the rope and the tines will lift to release the sweepings. For ease of transport, the tines can be locked into the 'up' position.A ball hitch can be fitted as an optional extra. An additional set of 9 tines can also be purchased separately (see accessories below) or a ready-built 19 tine version is also available.

I found the hay rake totally ineffective in raking up the hay. The hay just bundled in the rake and almost immediately fell out from the tines as they lifted on their own accord so it was never collecting up the hay and allowing me to bring it to a point where it could be dropped. The spring loaded catch for holding the tines was so tight against the frame that it couldn't be used unless I dismounted from the tractor and "forced" into the holding position. I consider the hay rake to be completely unsuitable and require arrangements to be made for collection and returning to SCH and a refund arranged. I regret this as I was looking forward to obtaining a useful and efficient item of machinery to assist in the hay making on my small holding from a good machinery supplier like SCH.
