“Perfect starter bike, if like me, you need more practise on a bike before taking the huge step from doing your CBT to Modules 1 and 2 for a full licence!
My partner bought me the Honda for Christmas and it has been wonderful in gaining me confidence riding a motorbike.
The fuel economy is amazing! It cost £18 to fill up and 300 miles later, I still had over a quarter of a tank left - I even went to Belgium on it, and it cost me £18 to get there and back. I totally recommend a little Honda CBF 125 for a novice or for someone who is simply looking for a more economical way to commute. Extremely versatile little bike. Love it!”
“Love this bike and have fun most of the time I'm on it however I have had a few major slides on the wet, partly due to the weather and tires and partly due to my lack of experience however if you take it slowly and don't try to get your knee down in the wet you should be fine. Also I do have a small problem with the gears slipping back down a gear when I'm going down a road however the Honda dealership have been really good and are going to try and sort it out for me with no charge. All of that considered this is a great bike and would recommend it to every one who is learning, its not the most flash sporty 125cc but who actually cares if your on two wheels your going to be having a great time no matter what!!!!”
“This bike is a very good bike to learn on. But its cost at a staggering 2600 for a 125 of poor build quality is way too high. I would recommend doing your DAS and buying a 600cc.
The CBF is made of poor build qaulity, with a rear drum break that seizes often. The cam is sticky and any bike on the road worth £2000 or more should have front and rear disc brakes as standard.
The adjusters on the swing arm are fragile and the side stand will rot within a year, unless bike is riden dry and stored in a garage during winter.
The tyres are shocking. Avoid going out on these bodged conti go's in the rain. Very narrow profile unlike the MT 125. The tyres are a huge let down.
I have spend a few hundred on parts and labour for this bike. Well, maintained, its a good ride but only for a learner.
Save your money and do a DAS.”
“After downgrading from my CBR600F I expected to hate this bike but was pleasantly surprised.
It is a very pleasant bike to ride.
I did have to get used to using the back brake to avoid landing on the tar in wet conditions.
I also had an issue where the front tyre went right down and I never did find out why as the RAC just pumped it up.
It is just the job for short trips in heavy traffic and that is why I bought it. Very economical also but with a surprising turn of speed.
I am very pleased with it.”
“Excellent wee bike for learners or commuters, struggles to get much over 60 mph on the flat but it's great for around towns and cities.
Really comfortable, looks great and I haven't had any mechanical problems with it, even though I'm a first-time driver.
One of the best features is the fuel efficiency, I always get between 100-120 miles to the gallon!
I'd like a more powerful model on national speed limit roads and because I only have my CBT I can't drive on motorways but I imagine it might struggle on them for long journeys.
Would highly recommend this bike to any who wish to stay under 65 mph in comfort and style, cheaply!
John.”
“The gear box is a bit clunky top end, also there are a lot of vibrations at 4000 rpm which the garage did not cure ,this is my second cbf 125 and I feel its not a patch on my first which was a 2010 model which cost 800 pounds less I think it will be my last.”
