“Great bike, had it for 16 months never faltered, no issues on an level bulllitt proof engine 300 mpg on a full tank costing around £15,00... insurance minimal, road tax 17.50. Lovely bike...passed bike test and part ex'd it for a 650... got a great price for the 125 in part ex. Happy camper!!”
“I've had the bike for over a year and been commuting 5 days a week on it for approx 10 miles each way. The bike is a good starting option for learner riders and commuters who are looking for a very cheap method of transport.
The build quality is okay - I've ridden the YBR125 also and there's not really much between the 2, It's been built to a budget so is not premium quality but certainly isn't cheap and nasty. The service schedule suggests a service every 2500 miles which comes around very quickly when commuting daily. You could do most of the jobs yourself but the 2 services I had done at Honda only cost £100 - £150 each. This could get annoying if you keep the bike for a long time and aren't confident in your mechanical abilities.
The fuel economy on this bike is phenomenal, I get about 250-300 miles to a full 13 litre tank. The bike is light and easy to manoeuvre, it's great for filtering through tight spaces.
The ContiGo tyres are more than capable in the dry and wet, don't go trying to get your knee down though! If you ride this bike the way it's meant to be ridden you'll have no issues. The brakes are okay, the front disc is capable but I would have preferred a disc instead of a drum at the rear. The drum sometimes squeaks in the wet which is annoying but it does the job. I've locked the back wheel a couple of times under heavy braking, most of the time it's my fault though as i've had to slam on the brakes quickly in traffic.
I've seen issues of rust being reported, i've not experienced it after a year of riding in all weathers but I do try and keep my bike clean and spray it with ACF50 during the winter months.
I've just sold my CBF, i bought it for £1700 with 1700 miles on the clock, just sold it for £1500 with 7000 miles on the clock. It appears if you look after it, the bike does hold its value reasonably well.
I wouldn't recommend buying brand new, find a used one. You're likely to be fed up of it's lack of power once you've got the hang of biking.”
“The ideal first bike for everyone. This CBF taught me several things:
1. How to drive a motorcycle (not a stupid scooter)
2. How to do DIY such as adjusting chains, brake fluid etc.
3. How to appreciate the dangers of the road
4. How to control situations with the limited 125 power this bike gives you, such as calculating how fast you will go in distance with full open throttle etc.
The CBF is incredibly cheap to maintain and run and is very, very, very reliable!”
“Perfect Starter bike. The CBF 125 is well built and reliable for the price you pay. All the power you need for city commuting, would not advise long motorway journeys as you'd be lucky to hit 70mph.”
“Had the bike for 4 month done 2000 miles on the whole it is no where near as good as my old 2013 cbf 125 should have kept the old one and saved some money.”
“As mine is the 2009 model it comes fitted with 2 KVM tyres as standard. I strongly suggest upgrading to a pair of conti-go's as the KVM's have little to no traction in the rain. 1st gear is a vit gutless but enough to get you moving. Overall its a fun bike and quite easy to throw around. Definitely not built for speed though as i top out at 65. 8/10”
