I bought this to replace a BMW R1150RT. The Beemer was a great bike but just getting too much of a handful in my twilight years. The Honda was everything i hoped for. Compact and comfortable for long distance touring with good economy. Forget the Johnny Race Rocket comments about it being a slug, it is more than capable when carrying out the duties it is designed for. I bought some pannier liners that double as carrying cases to compliment the fixed panniers and a great job they do. A good commuter bike when not touring puts the icing on the cake.

A very comfortable and reliable bike, ideal for touring. A wee bit on the heavy side due to being shaft drive, but still a lightweight compared to most of the 'big tourers'.

Big comfortable bike that's easy to ride. Probably not suitable for the smaller rider as it's quite heavy and the riding position with a wide seat means you need quite long legs to make traffic light stops etc comfortable. Just back from the shops where I bought a dozen roses, a helium balloon and a bottle of champagne and then realised I hadn't come in the car - somehow the Deauville carried it all without ruining the flowers, so scores high on practicality.

Can honestly say It`s the best my bike up to date. Almost everything is as it should be.... The only downside is lack of cruise control for long distance ride. Recently done trip to Switzerland and Italy, so I know what I`m talking about :). Apart from that, it is a perfect motorbike.

Bought it to commute to work, chose the type of bike very carefully, no problems with cold or wind because of the riding position and shape of the bike and the large screen, plenty of room in the panniers and a bit of a wolf in sheeps clothing as the reviews say.

Boy racers the Honda 700 Deauville is NOT for you. What you get is a good solid, stable, reliable bike that is comfortable, and will happily cruise at the national speed limit all day every day. The engine has plenty of power for two up, and with it's shaft drive the power transfer is smooth and instant, making the bike very responsive. Although the full fairing and luggage boxes add width and hight to the bike, it is surprisingly nimble around town and when filtering. Around town I average 13 miles to the Litre, and on a run 16 miles to the Litre. The Honda Deauville handling is predictable and reliable (some may say dull), for me, that makes it excellent for commuting in all weathers, cruising up and down the motorways, and just enjoying a ride out. In short, if your in the market for thrills, acceleration that makes your shoulders hurt, being buffeted by the wind, getting cold, and a bike that has you wishing the miles away because back and bum are sore, then don't buy a Honda Deauville because you WILL be disappointed.

Overall its a good bike for the average commuter as it just keeps going but its a little to low to the ground as when you go round some corners or over a speed hump the center stand hits the ground, more often when two up.
