“I have put 50000 thousand miles on my vfr800 in the ten years I have owned it most of them when l first bought it.
The only problem I have had was the known reg/rec problem cured by replacing with an uprated one, and the pcb board behind the dash panel with corrosion problem simply cured by soldering bridging wires over the corroded tracks .
I would recommend a well cared for vfr800fi to any motorcyclist looking for a reliable touring bike that can haul 2 people along with their luggage.”
“Rated at the time as the best all round bike available the Honda VFR 800 has become a legend. With its impecable handling and unburstable V4 cam driven engine it is a wonderful combination of a touring bike that will do well over 200 miles on a tank of fuel and the rider can still walk after a day in the saddle (I rode from Bamff in Scotland to York in the day and was fine).
Yes, they're getting a bit long in the tooth now, but my dilemma is what to swap it for. It does everything I've asked of it well and continues to do so.
I love it”
“Often billed as the best all-round bike ever, I can't really argue with that over the 9 years I've owned it covering nearly 60,000 miles.
To coin a phrase, it really does do what it says on the tin. It's not going to evoke much emotion, like a Ducati 916 for example, but if you want a bike that does everything, this one does.
Servicing can be a tad on the expensive side, especially the 16k intervals where the tappets get checked (£500+) but if you look after it, it will go on and on and on..... It really would be a false economy to skip services.
When time does come to replace it, I really don't know what I'll get. It can't be replaced.”
“I have always wanted to try a V four Honda and this one doesn't disappoint even though it is 20 years old. The technology on this bike for it's age is amazing ,fuel injection , single side swing arm, linked brakes, fuel gauge and a clock. A nice comfortable bike to ride a quality product which sits in nicely with my other Honda products.”
