“My 7 always puts a smile on my face. Gorgeous looks, awesome induction noise & nice spread of power. Heavy by modern standards, but incredibly stable. Carbs can get gummed up if left standing for a while so a regular run up is recommended. I run mine on 15/44 gearing instead of the standard 16/43. I've toured France on a ZRX1200 & my ZX7R, the 7 was more comfortable, I'm 5'8. The only bike I had more fun on was my RD 350 YPVS but that was a long time ago...”
“She's old as the hills. '98... And I've had her for 13 years.
Heavy...... But stable....
Front end it still phenomenally good.
Looks great..... And she still puts a massive grin on my face.
You can pick these up for pennies now.
Make sure you know how carburettors work.....!
I love my 7R. Even after all this time!”
“Although nine owners, it has been so well looked after from new in 2002 you would think it is just a couple of years old. It rides better with my pillion than modern sports bikes as the seat is a sensible size. I could do with the suspension a little less harsh but apart from that it is spot on. I have owned the YZF and GSXR 750's from the same period and in my opinion it is the best or the bunch.”
“Old school superbike, looks amazing AIR SCOOPS!!!! Mine is all original, as it should be, no need to mess about with a classic (apart from rear foot pegs off, single seat cowl from Pyramid Plastics and R&G exhaust hanger!!) Very fast and revvy, brilliant handling, good brakes once fettled with. Only had to put a new battery on it.
Great bike with timeless looks.”
“Good overall keep's up with the newer sports bikes that are on the market. Heavy though, really well planted front end. Only down side is parts now as its an older bike, prone to rear brake issues and hard or expensive to replace also needs a lot of maintenance on the brakes front and rear.
Very good value for money though can get a quality bike for £1000-£1500 so if your looking for something that you wont be embarrassed by other so called faster new bikes this tool will do the job all day long.”
“For a bike built in 1997 it still runs and handles like new. Sounds fantastic and always turns heads for the good reasons.
Power is as would be expected for a super bike from this era, probably not a comparative Match for a modern bike but fast enough for most and corners amazingly.
And you can work on it with sockets and Allen keys and you don't need a computer to tell you what's wrong, who needs a new bike!”
