I love my bike. I've owned it since 1995 and can't imagine being without it. The ride is so comfortable (for the pillion too). It handles brilliantly and is very well balanced. I test rode a CBR600 before I bought this bike. After about an hour my wrists were aching - couldn't imagine going long distances on it . The ZZR600 is so much better. I've never had cause to doubt it's reliability and have always felt confident of it getting me to where I want to go - have never needed a breakdown service. She just keeps going!

With a bit of research you can easily find the weaknesses of a ZZR600. They are a touch old and, if like mine, at 20 years old the stock rear shock will be tired. I replaced mine with a Hagon shock which stiffened the bike back up for a much better feel and improved handling. The stock calipers require frequent maintenance to keep the pistons free and moving but you can change these for nissin calipers from Honda Fireblades, CBR600RRs and such. I've had the bike for coming on 4 years and the only "problems" I've had with the bike have been self inflicted, stripping the sump plug for example. Change the oil regularly and give the fluids a good refresh and I can't see what could go wrong. It's heavy and low when pushing the bike around but once you're on the move, the weight disappears and it is firmly planted. I wouldn't want to pay more than £1000 unless it had brake and suspension upgrades and had evidence of frequent maintenance (oil changes etc.)

I have had my bike for over 5 years and completed approx 9500 miles. I have travelled to and fro from the UK to Germany by the rhine approx a 550 mile single journey. I have enjoyed my rides and obviously if I ride until the fuel tank is in red good speeds about 180 miles to refill which is an enjoyable journey and fun speeds approx 120 mile to refill which can be a little stiff on the old joints but not an unfullfilling journey. I have the bike serviced when needed which is when the tyres wear out and I hear it is tired. The bike is very reliable and it does what I need it to do it is a good two up bike for any couples and I would always recommend it to any biker who wants to take the other half and has already done the speeder younger mode. Great fun for for two!!
