“It's the all-rounder I wanted. Previous bike was a GTR1400 - brilliant fast tourer, but no good for a Sunday blast, being ridiculously heavy.
I considered the S1000XR to satisfy my inner hooligan, but that way lies madness. And points on your license. I considered the R1200RT, for the trips across Europe, but then that isn't a Sunday toy either.
The R1200RS ticks all the boxes for me. It handles brilliantly through the twisties, enough torque to put a big smile on my face, all-day comfort for touring as well.”
“Lovely to ride. Smooth fuelling, easy clutch, but gearbox a little agricultural. Feels sure-footed. However, poor finish on metal painted parts--after one year, shaft drive, engine front cover, rear rack and rear wheel are all spidering/lifting. Replacements under BMW warranty currently under discussion.”
