Great bike. Good power/weight ratio. Big bike feel but under 200kg. 60+ mpg too.

Great bike. Did a tour around Ireland of 1000 miles in four days and was able to keep up with the other much larger touring bikes. Did suffer sore wrists and forearm so will invest in some form of cruise control for any future touring adventures. Bike is very quick and have found myself making use of the slowest setting. Riding mode can be changed very easily from standard to sports or economy whilst on the move. The bike is very light and slim so filtering through traffic is still okay and an advantage over the bigger bikes. The only downsides: no topbox to store a helmet. This is common on all Yamahas I think. I miss the simple key operated lock to hang the helmet on that my old Yamaha had. There is a piece of wire that can be used to hold the helmet secured by locking the seat down but it is not much use. The screen is okay but a bit flimsy. A more robust and better covering screen would really enhance the bike but then again it would affect the price too I suppose. The price of this bike is key. A brand new bike with traction control and ABS and I got heated grips and panniers too so it ticks almost all the boxes for what I am looking for in a great all rounder.

Brilliant bike. The power is just as you would want it, smooth and responsive, even in the higher gear the power comes through so you do not have to move down loads of gears to overtake etc. Light and maneuverable around corners. Thank you Yamaha for bringing a touring bike out that is light enough to easily move around the garage, narrow and low enough for us girls who are in general shorter than the lads, to put their feet on the floor without having to lower the bike and so increasing the knee angle whilst riding or having to choose a smaller cc I came from a beloved old CBR600 and thought I would miss the fun of riding a smaller cc bike not at all. No it does not have the feel of a heavier meatier bike like the Triumph or BMW and they will not be for everyone but perfect for me
