Lovely comfortable bike, love the retro style, good mpg too. Just wish it had twin disc front brake - you do have to think ahead a bit.

Base model is basic, but a good model to start farkeling. New springs , shock absorbers to clean up the ride. Kill the AI & the O2 K&N filter & a freeflow exhaust and you'll have something that puts a grin on your face like a Cheshire cat lol

upgraded a few things sprockets, will not do the ton now but can get 65mpg. crap original silencers bined, norman hyde fitted looks and sounds like 60s bonni now. got rid of lacquer on engine, clutch and gearbox sprocket covers now highly polished alloy. triumph chrome is crap bike is very reliable only battery has let me down and coil ( my fault left ignition on ) powder coating on engine caseings and barrels now flaking off. 2003 bike with 25000 miles on clock 95% dry rideing

Bought second-hand 2012. 12000m. Matt black/chrome. Had service done by Trimotors, Abbey wood. Rides like new. Will never change it 'cos I'd never find a better bike.

Love the retro style , my favourite bike is 1970's triumph bonneville but fully restored bike is expensive. I have next best thing 2006 model with custom paint job, very happy with bike.

The Bonny is on the heavy side and is very difficult to get on the centre stand. Three keys is a nusience: Ignition, steering lock and fuel cap. It rides quite smoothly and feels very secure on the road but I do miss the extra grunt of my previous bike for over taking. It's a bit of an old plodder in standard form. A lack of storage under the seat is also a downer. It's a good bike for poodling around on and easy to live with providing you don't mind fiddling with keys, carrying your gear about in a ruck or bag and you don,t stop somwhere where you need to use the centre stand.

I got off a FJR1300 onto the Bonneville SE. I thought I had made a BIG mistake, I thought I had gotten onto a toy. and the standard seat was like a board, sssooo hard, First thing I did was to get the seat remade to a standard you could sit on for more than 1/2 an hour. The bike then started to grow on me and in the last 2 years we have done some good miles on it. The bike is small but it is strong and it loved the mountain roads to Andorra 2 up.Yes I now like the Bonneville and we get on just great. Portugal next year.
