“Changed my V strom 650 for my Tiger 800, V Storm was a good bike, but my tiger shines above it, comfort, speed reliability and looks. The Tiger is a lighter bike and has great torque . The only downside is the weight of the Triumph side panniers and top box, you can get much lighter ones elsewhere”
“I sold the bike after just a month for a KTM RC8. The 'tall-rounder' position is not as comfortable as a sports bike for long distance as you sit on the base of your spine which gets a pounding after several hours. On a sports bike your weight is spread along the thighs and the 'foetal position' is comfortable for long periods. Cruisers must be hell on wheels!
The Tiger 800 engine is literally like a turbine. The only other downside to the bike was cleaning it. OMG but it has 6million nooks, crannies, crevices, frame welds, tacked-on bits and convoluted surfaces to clean. It needs 8 days with a toothbrush to clean!
Fuel economy was good at around 60mpg (my BMW F800GS managed 70-80mpg) and it handled very well in Wales on twisties.
For most people it is a superb bike. I just needed the RC8 to bow down and worship...”
“I've recently upgraded to a Tiger Sport, the things lacking in the Tiger 800 were : brakes needed to be upgraded, suspension was replaced with Maxton's, no adjustment on the road version, not bad power wise, but not quite enough, handling compromised by 19" front wheel and restricted tyre choice.”
“Love it to bits ... not enough free time to ride my pride an joy.
Its a dream come true.
Got big plans for the summer... Scotland .... or Spain ..... ?.”
“The Tiger is a very good bike. Riding characteristics, performance and economy are excellent. I would recommend this bike to anyone and would buy another one.”
