“It's an excellent bike with few flaws. It is much better than the Tiger 1050 SE that it replaced. The Triumph dealership I use at Winnersh is excellent. They are like family. I am always offered a loan bike whenever I have to take my Tiger for service.
My only disappointment is the high cost of servicing, caused by the need for checking and adjusting valve clearances every 12,000 miles.”
“Great bike comfy sport tourer. Standard mirrors not wide enough and fitting wth reverse thread is rubbish.... Goes better now with Arrow exhaust but why so pricey at 600 quid?”
“Extremely comfortable! It's not really old enough yet to talk about reliability though. Huge amounts of torque and really good wind protection. Staffordshire Triumph are top notch with a really good "family" approach to service. Always big grins riding out and often stop in for a brew and a chat. Cracking machine!”
“The Tiger Sport is not as fast, powerful or as agile as some of the bikes I have had in the past but then its not a really a sports bike is it, it's a heavy beast at 235 kilo's. However what it does do, it does very well, it looks good and the engine is great with loads of grunt, it handles and stops very well and always feels planted through the bends. That said if Triumph had thought about it a bit more this could have been a great bike instead of just a very good one. I found the stock screen too small and changed it for a slightly bigger and better one from Puig which offered more protection from the elements, also the rear hugger and front mudguard were way too short which meant that when riding on a wet road, water and road dirt is thrown all over the engine and radiator at the front and rear suspension and engine at the back but once the rear one was replace for a longer Powerbronze hugger and a fender extender on the front the situation improved markedly. these are only small points but make a real difference.”
“This is a great bike. It rides and handles very well, the suspension is a lot better than the earlier model and I have not had to alter or adjust it apart from one notch on the rear preload. The biggest problem is comfort, the standard seat is awful, bit like sitting on a cheese grater. I then purchased a triumph comfort gel seat as I had a gel seat on the previous model I owned and it was very comfortable even for the pillion, this was also terrible, it just prolonged the suffering for another 10 or 15 miles before it became unbearable to sit on. Went to spain this year on it and it nearly broke my wife, she even talked of flying home at one point on the first week of our holiday. All in all it is a very good bike, I have now purchased another seat which was crafted by a specialist motorcycle seat manufacturer in england and am very pleased with the comfort level achieved.”
