I found it impractical. I've learned, from my area forestry station over the past two years, that what has commonly gone wrong in my Indian-brand Smokechaser Fedco trombone-style piston fire pumps is the 85139 piston assembly/check valve. A firefighter told me the piston assembly sometimes/somehow loses the ‘BB’ / check valve inside it, and it was the reason my pump quit functioning. This piston assy is included in the kit. However, the #171035 o-ring included is too big for the application as I've communicated to The Supply Cache representatives between April 9 and 10th, via email, and so worthless. Other orings, approximating the required size, must be purchased elsewhere and adapted to achieve performance of the pump. Also the inclusion of a nozzle assembly, which in my opinion, you'd only have to replace if crushed in a vice, increases the cost of the kit exponentially. I’d suggest adding another piston assy to the ‘kit’ and offering the nozzle assy as an additional part order. I purchased 3 Fedco Field Service Kits at $25 ea. and could only 3 of the components.

Everything you need to get your pump pumping again. I keep a couple in my rigs as its not uncommon to come across small fires in my area. And every year or two, it seems as though one of my pumps poops out. That said, would be nice to have a couple extra O-rings and felt rings in the kit as they tend to die more often than the other parts. And a small tube of waterproof grease.

Just what I needed to get an old trombone from a smoke chaser back in service. Grass fire season!
