I am new to ' Aquaria ' and on a steep learning curve , as we recently bought a 300lt curved corner aquarium from friends going back to QLD. It came with a mixture of Ciclids mainly , sizes vary up to about 15cm for a beautiful blue dolphin. Keeping an aquarium has changed ' big time ' since my last one when I was a kid ( 58 now ! ) , as I said , it is a steep learning curve , so I guess you could say that I was ' thrown in the deep end ' ...sorry, couldn't help it ! :-)))). “I have been running one of these filters for over 6 months. In that time I have had constant problems with ammonia levels and nitrate levels - ammonia always present and nitrate levels at double what is safe resulting in many fish lost. I have had aquariums for over 20 years and never had these problems with conventional filter types. $100 down the drain, new filter on order.”
