“This serum by the rootist is amazing for any oily scalp. It’s light weight with a water like texture that smells minty and easily distributes through my hair. I use a few drops more than recommended since my hair is pretty thick. I love that it exfoliates my scalp helping balance it out. I’ve noticed it feeling and looking less oily since I started using this which is 2 times a week. This has definitely worked wonders with less wash days and dry shampoo.”

I used it as instructed on the box and I couldn't really see a difference in the oiliness of my scalp. I will say though that it makes my scalp feel nice and clean after using which I love, it makes me feel refreshed. I wouldn't recommend this product though if your looking for something to help with the oiliness of your hair.”

“I really do like this serum for oiliness! I’m a gym rat so my hair needs all the help it can get to stay clean between washes. I feel like this extended the life of each wash for sure and I really loved that. My only issue was that when I first apply this to my scalp it leaves a bit of crunchy residue for the first few hours, as pictured. However, once time passes it really does help my hair stay less oily. Another thing that I like about it is that it isn’t super scented. I don’t like fragrance in my cosmetics so I appreciated this. Finally, the packaging was great! It traveled well for me and didn’t leak at all, which is super important and often hard to find. Overall I definitely would recommend this hair serum for oily girls or gym girls who want to keep their hair fresher longer without having to constantly wash it!”

But sadly after the first few issues I started to notice a burning/stinging sensation whenever I applied it, which made me so sad truly as the smell and idea sounded amazing.

It doesn’t look like I have had a collision with an oil truck, for once in my life! I’m very impressed with how well it works and how nice and healthy my scalp and hair are.”
“As an esthetician who's worked as a beauty expert in high-end and professional salon/spa retail environments I loved the idea of a talc free/clean dry shampoo because not only do I want talc nowhere near my skin but more importantly I also want it nowhere in the air I breathe. While I am a fan of the brand's philosophy to make clean eco-conscious high quality hair products formulated with ingredients that promote healthier hair, I am sad to say I am not a fan of this product. I used this as I would any other dry shampoo when my hair was quite oily and I didn't feel like it did a very good job of absorbing oil because I noticed sort of a greasy residue at my roots where I'm guessing my natural oils mixed with the powder. It gave me some volume but it did not make my hair look or feel clean at the root. The product looked quite ashy on my hair and it didn't fully blend in even when brushed or massaged in with my fingers. The brush on style applicator wasn't user friendly for me as it was a challenge to get an even amount of product to brush on throughout the application process. Sometimes product would brush on and other times essentially nothing would. I would be able to get over that frustrating and time consuming aspect if that was my only issue and it weren't for the fact that this product irritated my scalp. Due to it making my scalp feel itchy and irritated I ended up having to wash my hair that day because the product felt uncomfortable which totally defeated the purpose that I applied dry shampoo in the first place. I expected that once I rinsed the product my scalp would be soothed but I noticed as I was running water through my hair I felt some irritation. I've used natural non-aerosol dry shampoo before as well as regular high and low end brands and none of them made my scalp feel irritated & uncomfortable like this one did. The overall experience was a bummer because I loved the concept of the product and wanted it to work for me.”
