pure rice 純米 saké both in Japan and in the USA. This is deservedly so, because of its smooth, easy-drinking taste. With Dassai there are no off putting aromas only fruit forward scents and palate pleasing flavors.
It is soft and “clean” tasting. Another descriptive term applied to this wonderful libation might be “light.” There are no heavy, dank corners to this brew. This is a perfect introduction to premium, “modern” saké. Occasionally when I am serving saké at a tasting event someone will turn up there nose and quip, “Oh, I’ve tried sakè, and I don’t like it.” They can frequently be won over after sampling Dassai. Terrific for cautious newcomers and relaxing and comfortable for the more experienced. This is a real crowd pleaser. Buy it. Try it. Enjoy it.”
