Heiwa “Nigori” Reviews

4.3 Rating 13 Reviews
This may be a strange take, but after trying this one, I had the thought that I guess sake can be compared to orange juice, as it also comes in no pulp, with pulp, and with extra pulp. Of the nigori I have tried, I found this a little heavier on the rice particles. For me this more robust mouthfeel provided a unique and satisfying drinking experience, though I could see why some would stay away from it. As other reviews pointed out, it is not too sweet and can read as a little boozy. Maybe it is because of the color or that I just enjoy the cocktail, but I get a less sweet Piña Colada vibe. While this may not be my absolute favorite nigori, it was still really enjoyable. If you have been wanting to expand your tasting range and try a sake with “pulp,” this is a good place to start. If you already like nigori, then please give this one a try.

The cloudy sake provides a different viewing experience and the heavier body paired nicely with its sweetness.

Nice melon character and a pleasant level of sweetness. Good complexity. The drawbacks were the chunkiness and a slight booziness. I'd say it was overall slightly above average for me.
