Choryo “Yoshinosugi no Taru Sake” Reviews

4.7 Rating 29 Reviews
I have an obsession with "taru" sakes. I find this one to be true to the taru flavor. At room temperature the aromatics from the cedar are evident and superb. I tried this chilled and room temperature and it is definitely more exciting on the palette at room temperature. Its drier than most other taru sakes I've tried but not overly so. I like that it comes in big bottle as a lot of taru sakes seem only to come in small bottles. I do hope Tippsy will at some point stock Yoshino Taru Sake. It ranks among the best in my opinion but this one is very similar.

Hi Larry, Thank you so much for your review! Choryo “Yoshinosugi no Taru Sake” is sweet and clean sake. This sake holds an enchanting woody aroma and taste because it was made with Taru which is pictured on the label that the men making it. This sake must be pair with grilled meat. If you like this sake, you might also like Zuiyo “Hojun Junmai”.

Served it cold in both a glass and my Akita cedar sake cup (25 years old - from my youth in Japan). The woodsy flavor is noticeable, but it fades quickly. This is a good go-to sake. You can 'smell' the tradition! Drink this while watching The Last Samurai and dream of visiting Japan...

This sake tasted EXACTLY like grapefruit. If you love grapefruit, this will likely be a new favorite. Not for me.
