Tateyama “Tokubetsu Honjozo” Reviews

4.4 Rating 16 Reviews
Solid sake for the price point. More polish than most honjozos (hence the tokubetsu) they could actually call this one a ginjo but the taste is def more in line with honjozo. More caramel-y and robust than a ginjo but more dialed back than a junmai.

This was another one I paired with fried oysters that I thought was good. I enjoyed it with its melon and flowery flavors and smell. It went down pretty smoothly.

Thank you for your review! This one's a really understated one - if you like this stoic flavor style, you might have fun browsing sake from Ishikawa, Toyama, and Niigata, in the Hokuriku region. https://www.tippsysake.com/collections/hokuriku-region (we just added the region browsing menu, so we're excited to share it) Happy sipping to you!

The flavor was sweeter and more subtle than I've come to expect from honjozo. We enjoyed every drop!

I found this sake to be exactly what I like. Crisp and dry. Pleasing to the taste with no lingering after bite. I didn't find anything I didn't like. Had it with sushi and only wished I had a bigger bottle

Wonderfully light with a mild dry aftertaste. Has a slight, pleasant sweetness. Good price point.

Light and fruit forward. Goes best with dishes that do not over power it.
