Toyonoaki “Karakuchi Kingoro” Reviews

4 Rating 9 Reviews
This sake is exactly what I want when we are grilling steaks . It’s dry enough to complement the juicy, fatty, meat but it has enough umami to highlight the salinity seasoning the meat. Hidden sweet notes are a fantastic surprise. All in all a total package! The label is eye catching too!

Very well balanced, one of my favourites to serve up warm.

This sake is a must try for those who like dry sake. I had this sake warmed with salmon, brussels sprouts, cheese, cured meats, and lamb; and it was delicious with all! While this is a dry sake, there are slightly sweet notes that do creep in. There is a fantastic mix of rice, banana bread, grain, and a creaminess to this brew. Fantastic!

DRY DrY DRy ! Did I say, “dry”? Karakuchi 辛口 means, “DRY.” A delightfully, delicious dry junmai 純米 (pure rice) saké from Shimane prefecture in Japan. Saké has such a wide range of flavors all the way from Mizuho Kuromatsu Kenbishi Yamahai at the earthy/dank end of the spectrum to Kameizumi, the “sweetie,” as well as, aged koshu 古酒 which is way out there in the other direction near the fruity, juicy, sweet terminal end. So for you “dry lovers” … this is it. Enjoy. Im sold on it. I’m going back for more.
